Lui che diventa razzista e xenofobo perché non può comprare la sua maglietta troppo costosa 😭😭 Ma vaffanculo tipo davvero
Oh not a Dexerto tweet…but when I said that the figureheads of the smash community is the reason why it’s still grassroots almost 2 decades later (back then it was because of the 2020 allegations) I was the bad guy.

I found a slightly clearer analog photo of the artwork from this post, so I decided to scan it.
If you zoom in, you can see the technique I was using back then. I cut out pieces of adhesive vinyl (what we'd call Cricut vinyl today) and layered them on top of each other to create the finished artwork.
Now that I've got presbyopia, I seriously doubt I could pull this off anymore. LOL. Just imagining having to do all that hair detail again sounds like absolute hell.
You can also clearly see that every single letter was cut by hand. I even applied screentone (the kind used in manga) over the title logo to create a gradient effect.
Looking back, I can't believe how much unnecessary work I put into this. I'm pretty sure I could've at least printed the lettering with the printers we had back then.
Oh, and one more interesting detail: at the time I made this, during the location test (an arcade revenue test conducted while the game is still in development), Nina didn't have that yellow sash around her waist yet.
Wow, this is from over 30 years ago… Where did you find it?
You can see the clock from Japanese TV in the top-left corner, so this must have been recorded when it appeared on some television program.
By the way, this wasn’t a normal drawing. Back then I’d gotten bored with conventional art materials, and I became obsessed with making artwork using what we call “cutting sheets” in Japan—basically the kind of single-color adhesive vinyl you might think of as Cricut vinyl overseas.
I would cut each piece by hand with a design knife, layer the pieces on top of one another, and separate the colors that way, almost like making an animation cel. I used that technique for all kinds of character art and concept art.
And it wasn’t just the characters. Every letter and logo on this piece was also cut out freehand with a design knife and assembled by hand. I used to say, “Not using a ruler gives it more character.”
In retrospect, I probably should have used a ruler.
One thing I liked about the technique was that the material was very resistant to UV and didn’t really deteriorate even after several years.
The downside was that finishing a single piece took an incredible amount of time. Areas with lots of tonal variation—especially things like gradients in the hair—were absolute hell to make.
And the board itself was huge. It was B0 size: 1030 × 1456 mm, or about 40.5 × 57.3 inches. So you needed a pretty large workspace just to make one.
After it was finished, it was displayed at an arcade during a location test—basically one of those pre-release, guerrilla-style tests where we would put the game into an arcade and see how much revenue it generated.
I later heard that, in the end, a Japanese fan who desperately wanted the piece was allowed to take it home.

I just sucked my teeth so loud Stevie Wonder probably heard me…
this photo looks ordinary until you know when it was taken.
ryan russell had only just come out publicly as bisexual when paparazzi photographed him holding corey o’Brien’s hand in santa monica. years later, russell explained that his old instinct would have been to drop the hand when the photographer approached.
he didn’t.
that tiny decision says more than any dramatic coming-out photo ever could. he wasn’t making a speech. he wasn’t posing. he was just walking down the street with the person he loved and choosing not to hide him.
six years later, the same image started circulating again now attached to a couple who had stayed together, built a family and kept showing up for each other.
sometimes the most important coming-out moment is simply refusing to let go.
This tweet is funny af but I do seriously believe she is doing herself a disservice by not playing some of her older tracks on tour. WG(M)IA is a nice header to her discography and it would introduce her new audience to her full sound.
This whole thread is sending me like wtfff 😭😭

I kinda hate that people will fr defend Gao’s performance of Ada when she quite literally took away all the aura and charm that the character is supposed to have.
