Masatoshi Nei was not only a great evolutionary biologist. He was also a successful teacher who mentored many students who themselves became successful scientists and mentors. The F1s are shown below, the F2s, F3s, and Fns are too numerous to count. So lucky to be #7 of the F1s.
I am so saddened to hear that Dr. Masatoshi Nei has died at 92. Dr. Nei was one of the most eminent figures in the field of evolutionary biology. It was my tremendous honor to work on my PhD under guidance of Dr. Nei. I am forever grateful for his support. cst.temple.edu/news/2023/05/…
