I wrote abt the campus SA crisis that never went away despite the public moving on after the Obama era; the material ways SA punishes victims the rest of their lives while assailants are systematically rewarded; & just tried to put to words what I think is going unsaid right now:

So it seems Jim O'Callaghan personally intervened to prevent the Gaza students coming to Ireland?
Above all this is cruel, but it is also undemocratic.
'It seemed the refusal followed “a significant change in practice” by the Minister that came “out of the blue” and about which neither visa applicants nor universities here were informed.'

As a professor at the Ivy League school, Kate Manne has known many, many victims. There’s a palpable feeling on campus, she writes, that this is big. thecut.com/article/what-it-f…

Maybe I’m a simpleton but I struggle to understand why frats are even still a thing these days. I remember rolling my eyes from my ground-level dorm one night in like 2010 when a group of rushes stormed past my window doing the “no means yes” chant. We’ve known this shit forever!

This is among the most under-covered stories in America — Israel is now holding *THREE* young Americans in prison, and no mainstream media is touching it
NEW: Israel snatched an American teen from his West Bank home in the middle of the night — days before his birthday & during national exams.
He's been held for 3 months with no charge.
Netanyahu just came to the US for the 8th time in Trump's second term.zeteo.com/p/israel-has-kidna…

🧵 So I wrote the Wired story on the burnerverse, and as part of my reporting, I spent months reading and listening to the convos 20-something men have when they think no one is looking.
It's easy to dismiss the Cornell 7 as outliers, or super privileged frat bros, or byproducts of the Greek system. They're not.
It's also easy to say they're the worst-case scenario. That they represent the nadir of toxic masculinity, or a culture that teaches men from an early age that young women's bodies are disposable. But they don't.
That Snapchat thread? That's the norm. That's the baseline. That type of language is EXTREMELY consistent with the convos these guys are having when they think no one is paying attention. Because most of the time, no one is.

For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026.
At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikes—120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day.
It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime.

Our manager is being publicly humiliated by the press corps of a genocidal ethnostate and every ounce of good feeling for our national team has evaporated.

NEW INVESTIGATION w/@earshot_ngo: In the early hours of 23 March 2025, in Tel al-Sultan, Gaza, two convoys of ambulances were ambushed by Israeli military personnel. Fifteen aid workers died in a hail of over 800 bullets; by the time dawn broke, Israeli bulldozers were burying the ambulances, seeking to conceal evidence of the attack.
The Last Responders tells the story of this attack in painstaking detail, drawing on interviews with witnesses from @PalestineRCS, digital reconstruction, and audio analysis of phonecalls made by the victims as they came under attack.

'When the true Gaza horror is revealed it will shame the world'.
What does he even mean?
The horror has been live streamed for nearly 3 years and he and his government have done nothing.
Micheál Martin grandstanding on the UN stage is shameful.

This is unbelievably important and under-reported. You see this in massive scale in the U.S. A data centre takes highly skilled tradespeople by the thousands, something that is in desperately short supply in Ireland.
Replying to @PBresnihan
Data centre development represents a significant opportunity cost: capital and labour allocated to data centres means it is not allocated to building socially-necessary infrastructure like housing. Between 2019-2024, capital allocated to DCs could have built 50,000 homes. 5/6

In 2020, a large, hidden group of disabled Americans, some with chronic physical illnesses and others with anxiety disorders like agoraphobia and contamination OCD, experienced a flood of validation and care the likes of which they'd never experienced.
"More than 250 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israeli forces. While there may be journalist solidarity within the White House press pool, little of that has been extended to their colleagues in real danger."
