Happy Tolkien Reading Day, my friends! Hail to you all, and to the Professor foremost! Thank you for bringing the joy of Middle-earth hither into this world. Here is to the downfall of Sauron and all his dealings.
For some amazing Tolkien content, check out this book by Michael Drout. Just listened to the introduction on audiobook and already the tears are welling in my eyes. This has incredible insights into Middle-earth and the Professor's works.
"If you know your Tolkien..."
Amazon doesn't know its Tolkien. Isildur's entire journey so far in Rings of Power is not rooted in almost any canon.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum star Jamie Dornan says Viggo Mortensen will always be Aragorn to him

Let’s do it! Rings of Power Season 3, trailer 2. Is it RoP slop or did it get better? Here are our thoughts on it!

For those saying I hate Rings of Power just to be a hater... Here's what I like about the show (that come to mind at least):
-Visuals are ALWAYS on point. Trailers, CGI, costumes (sometimes), posters
-Music from Bear! Let him cook
-The actors' performances
-Sets
-Arondir

I haven’t posted on this account in a long time because quite frankly, Amazon and this awful interpretation of Tolkien’s work has upset me.
Tolkien’s Galadriel was the most elegant yet extremely powerful female character I’ve ever read in books. It’s truly sad to see this Gif.
This is a fantastic question that gets me thinking. Shoutout to my friend here!
I think canon matters so much in M-e because it's not just about what Tolkien wrote, but how he wrote it. It's not generic fantasy, it's a work of art that conjures emotion. What do you all think?
Replying to @Yoystan
Why does canon matter so much to people in this franchise? This isn’t Star Wars where it builds off a film, it is based on books and those books were adapted and thus things will change. And the SA doesn’t even have that much written on it.
Maybe the appeal is that Rings of Power is similar to LOTR but it is truly a fan fiction or non-canonical telling.
But then I look at the official account name: “The Lord of the Rings”.
Does it look cool? Sure. But it also looks like more of the same that we’ve gotten before.

On this date in Middle-earth, October 20, T.A. 3018, Frodo escaped the Nine Ringwraiths at the Ford of Bruinen, with help from the High Elf Glorfindel.
Two days earlier, Glorfindel had found Aragorn and the hobbits as Frodo’s wound from Weathertop worsened. Glorfindel placed Frodo upon his horse, Asfaloth, and when the Nazgûl began closing in, commanded the horse to flee towards Rivendell.
Asfaloth outran the pursuing Riders and carried Frodo safely across the Ford. Despite his injury, Frodo then had one of his most character-defining moments. Raising his sword, he openly defied the Nine, ordering them to return to Mordor. The Riders briefly halted, laughed at his words. As three of them entered the river, Frodo mustered his remaining strength and declared; “By Elbereth and Lúthien the Fair … you shall have neither the Ring nor me!” The Witch-king responded by raising his hand, leaving Frodo unable to speak.
Just at this moment, a great flood commanded by Elrond, with Gandalf’s additions taking the form of white horses and riders in the waves, swept the Ringwraiths away. Glorfindel, Aragorn and the hobbits drove the remaining Riders into the raging waters. Frodo was safe for the time being.
It is one of my favourite early demonstrations of Frodo’s strength and resilience in Tolkien’s writing.

But, regardless of #RingsofPower, I want to echo something that I said in the beginning. We don't gatekeep. Any who love the show are absolutely welcome to, and we must remember that the Tolkien community is a fellowship. No fan is "truer" than another. Let us remember kindness.
Watch me talk all this smack and then Season 3 is the best LOTR content in years.
It’s a risk I’m willing to take 🫡
I wish Amazon put as much care into upholding Tolkien’s work in #RingsofPower as they do inviting influencers to special events to promote the show.

Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you all had a great week! Today, we are discussing how the LOTR films appear to omit many of the kings of Gondor (let alone Arnor). Please enjoy!
