🇨🇦Canada, we can continue having encampments and people sleeping on our streets, or we can do THIS.
In Minneapolis, an old warehouse was transformed into Avivo Village, providing 100 private tiny homes with 24/7 support, mental health care, addiction treatment and housing assistance.
By July 2026, 873 people had been served, and 339 had moved into permanent housing.
This is what happens when we invest in housing and support instead of punishing people for being homeless.
We don't lack solutions, we lack the willingness to implement them.

Hanane spends her days cooking at one of WCK's local kitchens in Lebanon, serving hot meals to her neighbors. At night, she returns home to cook for her own five children and help them navigate schoolwork and the challenges of growing up during a conflict.
With the income she earns working with WCK, Hanane has been able to buy her children the notebooks, pencils, and backpacks they need for the new school year. For a single mother raising five children in the middle of a conflict, that financial stability means everything.
Hanane's story is a reminder that a hot meal isn't just critical to the person receiving it—sometimes it matters just as much to the person serving it.

On July 20, 1980, Terry Fox reached Stratford, Ontario. He was personally greeted by British actress Maggie Smith, who was performing at the Stratford Festival that summer. She gave him a hug, kiss, and a personal donation to the Marathon of Hope.

Michael J. Fox has been named a Companion of the Order of Canada. 🇨🇦
For decades, he’s raised millions for Parkinson’s research and inspired countless others.
A Canadian icon, a remarkable legacy who continues to make Canadians proud. 🍁❤️

love how this explains why East Asian traditional clothes (& also Southeast Asian & South Asian) have boxy silhouettes or just wrap fabric around our body. We display status/wealth through the quality of our textiles, so making tailored clothing will waste a lot expensive fabric

Today is #HobbitDay because Bilbo and Frodo Baggins were both born on September 22nd.
Normally we'd shire a hobbit pun or two but it might just feel like a tolkien gesture and we don't want to embarrass our elves.
Anyway it's a good day to come and boromir #Tolkien books. 📚

Yesterday in Costco, I heard, “Mr. Felicella?”
It was a retired judge who had dealt with me in court years ago.
She told me she’d been following my recovery, called what I’ve accomplished “nothing short of a miracle,” and said she was a big fan.
Years ago, I stood in front of her because my life was falling apart.
Yesterday, she stood in front of me celebrating what my life had become.
Never underestimate what recovery can make possible. ❤️

Some treasures don’t just belong to the past—they make you wish you had lived in it.
These 1920s Art Deco teacups are pure vintage magic.

To everyone who says BC “doesn’t do recovery” go pound sand.
50,000+ people. Hundreds of vendors. All celebrating recovery.
I’ve been coming to Recovery Day BC for 13 years, and it’s the biggest Recovery Day in North America.
Recovery is alive and well in BC. Period. 🇨🇦❤️

Mexico, you have truly shown up for us this wildfire season.
Over 300 wildfire personnel came to our aid when we needed it most. On behalf of all my fellow British Columbians, thank you.
A true North American partner.

A video was made in Germany showing what would happen to the German healthcare system if migrants left.

The film, A Day Without a Mexican (2004), is based on this very premise, that Californians woke up one day to the mysterious disappearance of all the Mexican people.

*BRILLIANT*
The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘_white, angry old man’s_’ advice to go back where they came from.*

Like a giant cedar tree cut down, the passing of Ditidaht elder Michael Thompson (Kwiibaalaah) this summer left a mark on the Nuu-chah-nulth landscape, leaving the younger generation with less. He was the lone fluent speaker of the diitiidʔaaʔtx̣ (Ditidaht) dialect.
