A first glimpse of the wildest robotics project of my PhD. 🛹 The Blind Skateboarder 🛹 No vision. No markers. Paper, code, weights — coming soon. And we have more. 😉

1/4 Today's OpenSource Gem Audio8 TTS Preview is a new open-weight TTS model focused on multilingual speech + zero-shot voice cloning in a compact 0.6B model. It supports 11 languages and ships its checkpoint, tokenizer, codec and inference code under Apache 2.0. 🧵

3/4 Instead of paying per-character/per-minute to a closed voice API, you can now run a compact open model and own the entire inference stack. This is useful for high-volume creator products where TTS cost normally destroys margins.

🤮🤢
Celebrating small wins is hardwired into "Achieve," our goal-tracking sample app. We wanted the simple act of checking off a task to feel like a celebration. Instead of the standard #Material ripple, we used Styles to drop in a custom, high-contrast completion animation—specifically, a brand-colored ring that expands and fades on tap, paired with a subtle pressed-state gradient. It lets us focus entirely on polishing those custom, rewarding micro-interactions while Material handles the foundation. #GoogleDesign #MaterialDesign #JetpackCompose #AndroidDev #UXDesign #InteractionDesign

1/5 Tencent BrowserSkill 0.1.10, released August 8, 2026, is an MIT-licensed browser automation layer that lets Codex, Claude Code, Cursor and other shell-capable agents operate your real, already logged-in Chrome/Edge session instead of launching a separate clean browser. 🧵

4/5 This dramatically lowers the barrier for SaaS products that sit on top of messy creator workflows. Instead of integrating Canva, YouTube Studio, Shopify, dashboards, newsletter tools, libraries, etc. one by one, you can potentially automate the existing UI.
