Phillies fan. :: Every single owner outspending small-market powerhouses needs to be asking their front office hard questions right now. Why are organizations with half the budget out-developing, out-scouting, and out-playing us? Money alone doesn't buy a championship

That's not easy to win a penny in their division. They have the Yankees, Boston, Toronto that have lot more money to buy players than Tampa does .
The Tampa Bay Rays secured their second AL Pennant in the last 10 years last night

Eating $72 million hurts, but the lesson should be obvious by now. Cut the losses on high-priced quick fixes and pour that capital into the minor league pipeline. Cost-controlled, homegrown talent wins championships. Time to change the blueprint.
You have a lot of Phillies questions following Dave Dombrowski’s media availability on Thursday. We answered a bunch in today’s show. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

What's the old saying mom knows best.
BOMBSHELL: Amy Acton’s own MOTHER just dropped a devastating ad warning Ohio NOT to elect her daughter. She calls Amy a habitual liar who “needs help” and is totally unfit for governor. When your own mother begs voters to stay away, it’s OVER. Must watch! 👇

I think the kids would rather watch the game with their father. Instead of a 3 pm game .
There hasn't been a World Series day game since 1987. Whole generations of kids never got to run home from school and catch the end of one.
First question what are you going to do with the form system what are you going to do about the scouts what can do about training the rookies in the minors. Do you plan on trading prospects for rental players.
You asked...we answered....another fascinating off season about to unfold

Look at how Tampa and Milwaukee run circles around big spenders year after year. They don't rely on bloated free-agent contracts—they invest heavily in player development and minor league depth. That's how you build a sustainable, perennial contender
Wasting $18M+ a year on Taijuan Walker set the payroll back, but the real sin was not redirecting that money. Imagine taking half of that and pumping it into a state-of-the-art pitching lab and international scouting. Stop buying overpriced veterans. Build the farm.

We have begun delivering travel RVs to displaced residents, including Debbie who will now be able to remain on her property while her home is fixed.
Since Hurricane Isaias made landfall, we have been working to ensure that those affected by this storm have the assistance they need to get back on their feet. We are operating seven Multi-Agency Resource Centers where Floridians can learn about available assistance and get connected with recovery resources. Thanks to our partnership with Emergency RV, we have started providing travel trailers to Floridians displaced by significant hurricane damage, so they have a safe place to live while they rebuild. We’re also committed to helping the first responders whose homes were impacted by the storm and still showed up to serve their communities. With funding from the Florida Sheriffs Association, we are providing these first responders with $5,000 each to show our gratitude. Schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties have reopened and resumed normal operations. We’re grateful for the hard work of school teams, transportation crews, and all our partners who helped make them safe for students and staff. For more information on Hurricane Isaias resources, visit FloridaDisaster.org.

The Rays-Brewers World Series will be only the second time in the past century that two teams who have never been crowned will face off for baseball's biggest prize (Phillies-Royals in 1980) 😳

I’m not a boomer but I do like to defend the bullied. The work ethic of the boomer generation was amazing. Coupled with the technologies they created, they became the most productive generation we’ve ever had. Much of our standard of living is due to the selflessness and determination of that generation. No one grew up pampered in 1950’s and 60’s…we should have a boomer appreciation holiday…

Best team in the AL vs the best team in the NL. Both teams are fun to watch. If you love baseball, it's going to be a great series.

Been waiting for Stott to take a step forward for five years. He hasn’t. He is what he is. They should trade him.

The Wife Who Believed Before the NFL Did Kurt Warner's truck ran out of gas on a freezing winter night. Brenda and their two kids were inside. All four of them dug through the seats for loose change. They didn't find many coins. Kurt jogged to a gas station thinking his kids deserved better. About five years later, he was a Super Bowl MVP. But Brenda had already lived a lifetime. She was a U.S. Marine. Her son Zack was born in 1989. At 4 months old, an accident left him with a brain injury and legally blind. Doctors didn't expect him to ever sit up. Read that again. Then her marriage ended while she was eight months pregnant. She moved back in with her parents. Went on food stamps. Finished nursing school. Then she met a college quarterback at a country bar. He showed up the next day to meet her kids. Zack grabbed his hand and pulled him inside. "No judgment, no expectation, just loved him," Brenda says. But football wasn't working. Green Bay cut Kurt in 1994. He stocked shelves overnight at a grocery store for $5.50 an hour and took care of the kids by day. Brenda had never even watched an NFL game. They married in 1997. Kurt adopted Zack and Jesse. Five more kids followed. The Rams signed him that December and sent him to Amsterdam. Kurt says Brenda told him: "I will hold down the home front for three months." Then 1999. Then 41 touchdowns. Then the NFL MVP and a Super Bowl with a then-record 414 yards. Think about that. In 2001, they started the First Things First Foundation. By May 2024, it had given a home to its 61st family. In 2017, Kurt chose Brenda to present him at the Hall of Fame. "You, above all others, deserved to share this stage with me," he told her. In 2018, they opened Treasure House, a home for adults with disabilities. It was Brenda's idea. Zack was one of its first six residents. From a baby doctors didn't expect to sit up to one of the first residents of a home his parents built. Some quarterbacks are measured in MVPs. Kurt Warner is measured in a truck out of gas. A wife who held down the home front. A home for people like Zack.
