Critical piece from @vkoganpolisci
Turns out... Ohio has given $1 billion dollars more to public schools than predicted, even while expanding school choice. To be clear, this is a good thing, but very different from the pervasive narrative often repeated by some in the media.
My new piece debunks three popular claims (using Ohio data):
1⃣ voucher expansion causes enrollment in public schools to decline,
2⃣ voucher $$ come out of public school funding,
3⃣ state K-12 funding has not kept up with district costs.

Would reply directly but you've apparently blocked replies. Id give you a civics and Poly Sci lessson but you're a superintendent and know exactly what im talking about. Want to work on property taxes together, I'm all in for collaboration.
Really burying the lede here:
The ruling does not automatically "redirect that money to TPS if the voucher program ultimately ends."
One of many reasons why the Supremes will side with parents on this case.
TPS says 4,984 students living in its district received scholarships last school year, representing an estimated $35 million to $50 million in funding at stake wtol.com/article/news/educat…

Sad day for students in Ohio!
On to the Supreme Court!
IMPORTANT: Ohio's EdChoice scholarships remain in place!
While SCO is disappointed by today's appellate ruling, a stay allows EdChoice and EdChoice Expansion to continue as the case heads to the Ohio Supreme Court.
This is about students, not politics.

Our latest report shows that Ohio charter schools are delivering a quality education. The average student attending a brick-and-mortar charter school outperforms her district peer on state math and reading exams. Don’t miss it!

I love when they ask Christopher Nolan about the Helen of Troy casting "controversy" and he's like,
"Dude, I cast the teen heartthrob from 'Brokeback Mountain' as Joker. This ain't my first rodeo."

45% of students starting 4th grade in Ohio’s big eight public school districts can’t read proficiently. That makes them 6x more likely to end up in prison over the long run, and it’s unacceptable. We’re going to fix it.
Agreed. More to do but definitely a good start. Much thanks to @andrewbrenner and Chair Arthur for their leadership!
Not a perfect report, but it offers steps in the right direction for #students attending non-district schools that need transportation.

Important fact check from @OHRGOPCaucus Finance Chair. Advocates would be wise to remember that this GA has been very supportive of public education and school choice.
Not a great look to attack the very legislators that have invested billions in public ed and figured out how to support family choices at the same time.

Important facts for decision makers to know. Talking points and lies are apparently the same thing for the ED blob.
Ohio school district officials and supporters regularly claim that their schools are required to take all students and use that fact to oppose charter and private school choice. But their claim is far from the truth.

Traditional district school supporters are attempting to score short-term political points by conjuring up a disingenuous fiscal narrative. We set the record straight (again) and explain why their efforts are harmful to the ongoing school funding conversation in Ohio.
