As a national minority, the Cornish have a right to be recognised for what we are: the UK's fifth nation.

In the House of Commons, the Prime Minister says he recognises Cornish national minority status, and wishes the people of Cornwall a happy St Piran’s Day. Gool Peran Lowen!

🚨 BREAKING: South West Water has been fined almost £8 MILLION today for repeated sewage pollution offences. Water executives should be facing PRISON TIME for this disgusting repeat offending, not just a fine. ❌

It’s pretty hypocritical to demand recognition of Scottish nationhood while completely ignoring Cornish nationhood. Either we all have equal recognition, or none of us do.
There are 4 nations in the UK. Only one presumes to speak for all and deny the others the right to determine their own future. It is a situation that can't continue.

On a day of unimaginable tragedy, ordinary people stood up as heroes on 9/11, one of whom was Rick Rescorla. Rick was a proud Cornishman and a decorated U.S. Army officer who worked as head of security for @MorganStanley in the South Tower. His foresight, courage & selflessness saved almost all of the company’s 2,700 employees on 9/11. His bravery & heroism alongside many, many others, will never be forgotten.

I’m sorry, *whose* lands?
As we consider the Bayeux Embroidery we should remember the many killed by this French invasion. English men and women had their lands stolen. Many were put into serfdom by a new Norman governing class.

Devon MPs laughed when we said we wanted our own deal. They said it wasn’t possible. They said the only way was a Devonwall Mayor sat in Plymouth. Well we’re getting our own deal. When Cornwall states our nationhood with confidence, we cannot be ignored!
🚨 〓〓 Cautiously optimistic news for Cornwall today: In his first statement to the Commons, the new PM Andy Burnham has committed to a proper devolution deal for the Duchy, with OR WITHOUT an elected Mayor.

Amazing semantic contortions going on at BBC South West, as they manage to shoehorn the word “county” into a description of Cornwall as a nation. They despise our national minority status. BBC South West needs to be abolished, and our licence fee used to support Cornish media.

Cornwall wants greater devolution and has a successful track record of delivering the powers it has already been given. As a national minority, we shouldn’t be subject to arbitrary requirements like a mayor, especially when Wales and Scotland don’t need one.
Andy Burnham's devolution roll-out promises 'growth for every postcode' but does it really, when half of England is yet to have a directly elected mayor? Cornish MP @Perran4CRH says the duchy risks being 'locked out' of the promised prosperity. Cornwall Council has refused a joint mayor with Devon, in part due to its national minority status Moon says it will be 'discriminatory' if ministers don't recognise this in their devolving of power🧵

This cannot happen. Devon’s NHS is in debt. If there’s a merger, Cornwall’s NHS budget will be used to pay Devon’s debt, leaving less money for us. It’s outrageous. Every time a new Devonwall scheme is proposed, Devon benefits and Cornwall loses out. cornwalllive.com/news/cornwa…
