I am retracting a thread I wrote last week... because I totally misread what was going on: @adriandeller @endi24
A technical graphic with a big grey X across it, with "It Wasn't THIS" across the bottom. the original graphic had this as the description: An infographic illustrating a Group Policy Preferences (GPP) registry quirk. The graphic is split into two panels: Left panel (titled 'Client OS Behavior') shows a GPP registry entry being truncated at the comma: - Input: REG_SZ = Item1,Item2 - Output: Item1 - A warning icon and label: 'Comma causes truncation on Windows 10/11' Right panel (titled 'Fix with %2C Encoding') shows the workaround: - Input: REG_SZ = Item1%2CItem2 - Output: Item1,Item2 - A checkmark icon and label: 'Use %2C to preserve comma' Design is clean, tech-oriented, with a Windows registry icon and a GPO symbol. Include a caption: 'GPP Tip: %2C saves your commas!'

the reality was it was simply a race condition, and my test environment wasn't as clean as I thought it was. If the admin template GPO wrote first, the GPP based GPO never wrote, leading me to observe an inconsistent result.

Lessons RE- learned: 🧠 Even experienced troubleshooters can make bad assumptions. 🧪 Always check for overlapping GPOs. 💥 Timing matters.
