Our very first lab publication! So many emotions!! Very proud of our team, especially Torri Wilson (@tdw1373), Spring Valdivia, and Aleisha Khan (@Leishk1). Looking forward to continue figuring out how the brain controls pain. cell.com/cell-reports/fullte…
Thanks to @NIH_NCCIH, @Catheri81811347, @NCCIH_David, @NIDAnews, @yavinshaham, and @IRPatNIH for the opportunity, resources, and support.
We’re happy to announce that Dr. Yarimar Carrasquillo (@YarCarLab) of our Division of Intramural Research has been granted tenure! Dr. Carrasquillo studies the brain mechanisms underlying the complex experience of pain. Join us in celebrating this momentous milestone!
Pausing my social media break to share that I got tenure @ NIH! So grateful to everyone that helped me get here. Former/current lab (especially @tdw1373), mentors (especially @robgereau), collaborators, pain research community, letter writers, friends, family, and my amazing son.

@michael_krashes, @ivancedric_a et al. (@NIDDKgov, @NIH) discuss the central mechanisms that dictate #eating behavior, by dissecting the neural circuits involved in food procurement, consumption, & meal termination 🧠🍽️

The experience of pain is more than just physical pain. Dr. Carrasquillo (@YarCarLab) is working to improve diagnosis and treatment for chronic pain & studying how perceived pain can be driven by changes in the nervous system: bit.ly/3iQXU86

"I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired". Heard this at the African American history museum today. Sad that this resonated so loudly w me 60y later. Hoping we can do better for the next generation of scientists.
El gran @CBravoRivera sólidamente representando nuestra isla en el #EBPS meeting en Alemania. Outstanding talk on brain circuits mediating behaviors during reward/punishment conflict. #ProudBoricua 🇵🇷🧠

Paper of the week: excellent @npp_journal paper of @YarCarLab (1st au Torres-Rodriguez) on the role of parabrachial nucleus to central amygdala projections in sensitization to neuropathic & inflammatory pain but not baseline pain responses in mice

Congrats and thanks to all authors and HUGE shout out to co-first authors Jeitzel Torres-Rodriguez and @tdw1373. Jeitzel was a postbac in my lab and this is her first publication! Great job everyone! I'm proud of you all.
New publication from our lab on the PBN-CeA pathway. Previos studies showed that this pathway does not contribute to somatosensation. We show that this circuit IS critical for somatosenzation but only in pathological pain states.
