Something is not mathing. Considering 80% "news" from 90% of corporate media is fake news & 100% of the time they get away scot free.
#abpnewshindi #NehaSinghRathore @ABPNews @nehafolksinger

Despite decades of economic growth, poverty remains a consequential reality. MGNREGA has been a transformative intervention, providing livelihoods & social security & empowering millions of lives & communities. Its continuation is a testament to its enduring impact & legacy.
If MGNREGA was the monumental failure that the BJP spent years portraying it as, why did its government retain the programme for over a decade and allocate unprecedented budgets to it? The BJP government increased MGNREGA's annual budget allocation from ₹33,000 crore in 2013–14 to ₹86,000 crore in 2024–25, an increase of over 160%. During the COVID-19 crisis in 2020–21, the allocation reached an ₹1.11 lakh crore. Why did the party that derided it constantly rely upon it to implement own flagship schemes, and repeatedly turn to it during national crises? Why does even its replacement, VB–G RAM G, retain the fundamental architecture of a statutory rural employment guarantee? The answers lie in MGNREGA's record, not the political rhetoric surrounding it. 1. Between 2014–15 and 2024–25, MGNREGA generated 3,029 crore person-days of employment. That is equivalent to over 12 crore full-time years of work, assuming 250 working days annually. For perspective, at Reliance Industries' 2024–25 workforce strength of 4.03 lakh, it would take approximately 300 years to generate an equivalent number of working days. 2. Those who refer to MGNREGA as a scheme that makes people dig up and fill up pits know nothing. The scheme has helped complete 8 crore works including water conservation, irrigation, watershed development, afforestation, rural connectivity and land improvement. 3. It is MGNREGA that helped carry out many of Modi government's repackaged flagship schemes including PMAY, Swachh Bharat Mission, POSHAN, Mission Amrit Sarovar, Jal Shakti Mission and PMKSY. 4. MGNREGA has been a lifeline during famine and droughts. In 2015–16, the NDA government extended the entitlement to 150 days in notified drought-affected areas. 5. When livelihoods collapsed and migrant workers returned to villages during COVID, MGNREGA was the crutch that generated a record 389 crore person-days in 2020–21, providing employment to approximately 7.6 crore households. 6. Women, Dalits and Adivasis continue to constitute a large portion of MGNREGA beneficiaries. 7. At its core, MGNREGA empowers because it transforms employment from an act of state benevolence into a legally enforceable entitlement. Its most radical premise is that livelihood security is a matter of dignity and citizenship, not charity or political patronage. It is because of the above that so many of the world's most brilliant minds in policy and development refer to MGNREGA as a revolutionary anti-poverty mission. Nothing can erase its legacy.

The same protestors can boycott these businesses. I thought traders were shrewd, but what do I know.
#WATCH | Delhi: On CJP's ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ protest, New Delhi Traders Association President Atul Bhargav says, "... During the CJP protest, our business came down to 10%, and we were trying to recover from that when this protest by the INDIA bloc, followed by the CJP, ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ started. We have reached our crescendo... We have to pay our rentals, staff, property tax... With these things happening, we are incurring heavy losses... These protests turned out to be violent, so customers avoided coming to CP. Connaught Place is a commerical center; go and protest at the designated place. Why are you protesting here?... It is a very important hub for traffic coming from the North to the South... We have sent a request signed by all the traders in our area to the Prime Minister, to HM, commisisoner police, LG, and everyone... We decided to make a representation asking them not to allow any protests here. I have been told today that the Supreme Court has taken notice of it..."

There were 8500 people with Rahul Gandhi on the bus alone.
This is ABSOLUTE CINEMA 🤣 Anjana Om Kashyap on live TV: > "Only 8,000 people came to the protest in Delhi!" Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe, on the spot: > "That's exactly why Amit Shah had to come out and say all sorts of things against Rahul Gandhi!" Think about it for a second. If it was really just 8,000 people: 1️⃣ Why were metro stations SHUT? 2️⃣ Why was Jantar Mantar de-notified overnight? 3️⃣ Why were MPs, lawyers and students detained in BUSLOADS? 4️⃣ Why did the Home Minister himself have to come out and attack Rahul? No government panics like this over 8,000 people. Godi math: count the crowd at 8,000, but count the panic at 8 lakh 🤣 Anjana counted the people. Amit Shah counted the threat. COOKED on her own channel 🗿🔥

Schrodinger's apology.
Some media organisations report that the Union Home Secretary has tendered an unconditional apology to the Honourable Supreme Court in response to a contempt notice. In this regard, this is to state: Whenever a contempt notice is issued by the Honourable Supreme Court, it is required that the party responding to the notice must begin their affidavit with an unconditional apology. Only thereafter all other facts and arguments are presented. This is mandatorily followed in every contempt petition. Following this practice, the first paragraph of the affidavits filed by the Home Secretary, Commissioner of Police, and other concerned officials complied with this requirement. Thereafter, detailed particulars in the affidavit have been furnished, by which it has been clearly established that all actions taken by the Government and the Police are fully compliant with the law, and no case of contempt is made out against them.

In a democracy, the office that should be subjected to the highest level of accountability should be that of the election commissioners. When the exact opposite is in vogue, it means democracy is in the morgue or will soon be.

Discrimination can change from one form to another but it can never be destroyed. Law of cuckoodynamics.
SC while ordering that those converted to Islam cannot claim reservation under BC(Muslim) category in Tamil Nadu has also ruled that “a person who professes a religion other than Hinduism, Sikhism or Buddhism cannot be deemed to be a member of Scheduled Caste.” Individuals who have converted to Christianity or Islam are not eligible for reservation under the Scheduled Caste category.

Peak cinema defence. Not only do we terrorize peaceful protestors, we're also miserable lackeys of the political leadership.
"Give us autonomy, let us handle these protesters the way we feel is professionally sound." Former IPS officer @mcborwankar argues that the police are capable of managing demonstrations professionally, but political directions from above can stand in the way of dialogue and trigger confrontation. #DelhiPolice #PoliceAutonomy #ParliamentProtests #PoliceAction #ProtestLaw #NewsToday | @sardesairajdeep

Thousands of protestors couldn't go to schools, colleges, offices, hospitals, markets, funerals, weddings, etc., because they were forced to protest for their rights by the government. Everything is on the government.
On a plea seeking accountability on the organisers of the protesters during protests, SC asks for the response of the Union Govt. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for Union Govt says, we agree with this contention, “those who organise protests should also take responsibility for the consequences.” The petition submitted that because of the protests, an elderly person couldn’t reach hospital on time.

The protests are as much against the govt as it's against the media, because they're perceived to be joined at the hip. The heckling & shaming of reporters is not a separate chapter, but just another form of the same protest.
I agree that journalists have the right to report, and the public have the right to protest. The anger is stemming from the fact that several journalists or rather their organisations, do not support the right to protest, and instead have systematically villainised the protestors. Yes, we can condemn the heckling. We can ask the protesters to stop behaving like this. At the same time, I hope these reporters (and many of them seniors) are coming back to their Newsrooms and strongly asking why they should bear the brunt for all editorial decisions and why things are not changing

When past humiliation is our present, and revenge our future, we're but just a sore dinghy drifting around in the sea of perpetual victimhood.
Extremely wise words by Shivshankar Menon, India's former Foreign Secretary and National Security Advisor. Asked by the host what worries him about India - what is a burden of history for India - he replied that "there is such a thing as excessive pride in your past." He explains that talking of "your glorious golden ages in the past" to "feel good about yourself" is ok - a normal aspect of building an identity for yourself - but "when you then carry it on into victimhood and into revenge for history" and when that becomes a driving force for today's actions, then it becomes "dangerous." He takes the example of people in India speaking about "a thousand years of slavery" (meaning Muslim and then British rule) or of Chiang Kai-shek writing every night in the top right of his diary "never forget national humiliation" (I checked and he actually wrote 雪耻 - xuě chǐ - which means "avenge the humiliation": thepaper.cn/newsDetail_forwa…, he did it from 1928 until his last diary entry in July 1972). It's a wise point in general: when you think about it, nationalism isn't necessarily destructive in and of itself. But it becomes so when you convince yourself as a nation or people that you are a victim and that there is a guilty party. Because, as Menon puts it, it makes you "stop dealing with reality as it is" and leads to "counterproductive policy and ideas." All the more dangerous because it’s so easy: nothing easier as a people, or as the ruler of a nation, than to blame others for what’s wrong. It spares you the much harder work of looking at your own failings, and absolves the rulers of responsibility. And the inverse is really hard: nothing harder when you have indeed been a victim than to resist turning that grievance into a political program, and to instead focus on what you can actually build today - which often involves working hand in hand with the guilty party. Which is, incidentally, why what China did was so impressive. It could have turned national humiliation into policies of revenge and hatred but instead chose to define it largely as China's own mistake for having been weak enough that foreigners could take advantage of that (Xi Jinping himself defines it that way in his book: xitter.cf/RnaudBertrand/status/2…). Which is constructive, because then the objective isn't revenge but building yourself, and China did that working hand in hand with the West. We’re seeing some version of victimhood drive policies in too many countries around the world. Europe is, sadly, a case in point: Russia and China have become the all-purpose explanation for almost every problem on the continent, from energy prices to deindustrialization. Very practical for EU leaders who never have to answer for their own choices... It's a good rule of thumb to have: if any politician builds his message around blame, take it as a red flag. That's what you reach for when you won't build. This is the source video, by the way: youtube.com/watch?v=IQ2ns6-C… On the WorldView Postcast of my friend @Hansong_Li
