Incredibly proud to announce that our DNA tokenizer EvoLen at the conference on language modeling (COLM) 2026! 🎉 This marks my first CS conference publication, and I could not ask for better collaboration @shangjingbo @NanHuang99!
🧬 EvoLen @ #COLM2026! 🔥 How should we tokenize DNA when there are no natural “word” boundaries? EvoLen uses evolutionary constraint to guide biologically meaningful tokenization: 🔹 +27.4% motif preservation 🔹 +41–53% regulatory-region separation 🔹 Up to +14.4% evolutionary alignment 🔹 Strong gains on regulatory & cross-species prediction Tokenization can be a biological inductive bias for genomic foundation models. Huge thanks to my collaborators Xiaoxiao Zhou, Junxia Cui, Mario Tapia-Pacheco, and my advisors @TAmariuta , @YangEricLi , and @shangjingbo for their invaluable guidance and support! Check out our work: 📄 Paper: arxiv.org/abs/2604.08698 💻 Code: github.com/HN020719/EvoLen 🤗 Models: huggingface.co/EvoLenTokeniz… See you in San Francisco! ✈️ #Genomics #DNALanguageModels #AIforScience #DNA

Excited to share Spatial-ATAC-Hi-C @naturemethods, spatial profiling of 3D genome organization + chromatin accessibility in tissue. Excitingly, it detects CNVs and SVs in tumors and reveals spatial heterogeneity. Great collaboration with @RongFan8. nature.com/articles/s41592-0…

Just want to give a shout-out to David Kelley @drklly who I think often does not get the credit he deserves (outside our core community). I want to highlight why I think he is such a fantastic scientist and leader in regulatory genomics. 1/
