Today I discovered a 1903 brochure promoting @theUL’s Chinese collection. It bears the names Professor Wade and Giles, the first two Chinese professors and honorary curators, whose selfless efforts built and preserved our collection, reminding me why safeguarding books matters.

Did you know @StJohnsCam's current chapel isn't the first the College has had? 🤔
The first chapel, a Tudor building dating back to 1511, was eventually deemed too small for the growing College.
In 1862, renowned architect George Gilbert Scott was commissioned to design a new chapel, inspired by chapels in Oxford and Paris.
The tower was added later, funded initially by alumnus Henry Hoare and completed by the College after his death.
Today, the tower plays a special role on Ascension Day, when the choir climbs it to sing the Ascension Day Carol 🎶
Have you visited St John’s College Chapel? 👀

From 2022 to 2026, what a journey. I feel incredibly lucky that Anke and Julia introduced me to this exciting field.
There is still so much to discuss and update, but for now, I hope this chapter has done its job.
Very happy to see the book finally published (and reached me)!

interesting feature of this dictionary is a pronounciation guide for hard characters that occur in Zhu Xi's _Minor learning 小學_ and the 4 books in the top margin
evidently those books were so commonly used, there was a need to make glossaries for these texts *in particular*

My son received his A-Level results, exactly what he expected. I’d like to thank my employer again for granting me two weeks of parental leave to accompany him during his exams, and @theUL and the Faculty of Education Library for providing free study spaces for sixth-formers.
