The pacing probably could've been better if the scene where Mr. Satan gives Goku the money was the halfway point of the episode instead what it actually was... Vegeta's introductory scene should've come earlier than it did... And such and such and such minor differences...

Curious to see where we go from here. Episodes 1 and 2 are tough ones to truncate so I can forgive a bit of the jarring feeling I felt this week. This show doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be better than the original series. I just worry we might lose too much whimsy.

I remain unsure as to why they removed the extra set of arms and eyes from this alien race but I do very much hate the aura effect they applied. Not that the original looked good, but at least you could see the drawings... Welcome back cursed ToP auras.

The opening is directed by Kota Tamakuma, a very junior director whose previous work only includes some assistant direction on Daima and Heroes. The storyboard is from the show's series director "Matsuto Seya" - a penname for an anonymous director.

It was comp'd and cut together by Nobutaka Yoda of 10GAUGE, a small video studio typically charged with helping to produce OPs and trailers. They were pulled in to produce the collage-heavy visuals in Mob Psycho's OPs, which I think explains the mix of reused episode cuts here.

This feels vindicating after 10+ years of bitching about constant highlights. Many shots have been entirely unchanged other than removing them. Still not sold on the very blue-tinted desat colours, but I do appreciate this change and the new line filter.

Across the episode are copious corrections from Yamamuro, himself. He is the sole-credited animation director and this project has been his baby since Daima finished. I might not vibe with his style, but it's at least competently drawn compared to the originals.

Rounding out the section is Isamu Takara with Goku vs Boo. It's more limited than the others due to being cross cut with Beerus scenes from another animator, but his smears and effects work are still cool to see. Hopefully later in the series allows him to shine like normal.

Next up and easily the highlight of the new additions to the episode is Shuuichiro Manabe's Goku vs Cell. He was one of the strongest assets across both Super and Daima, and nothing has changed. He is still fuckin' awesome.
