Honoring the past at our new address! Beautiful write up! 💛🦅💙
Yellow Springs and Linganore Creek students and staff are enjoying new school buildings, but the focus remains on ensuring all students are supported. Our Public Affairs Communications staff wrote about their experiences at the dedication ceremonies for the two new elementary schools. This morning, we celebrated the dedication of the new Yellow Springs Elementary School building - a special milestone for our students, staff, families, and entire school community.
The ceremony was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the journey that brought us to this moment. These students now have a new space to learn, grow, and make memories for years to come.
Together, we are one great "Ohana" in our new nest! Ready to create new memories while honoring the last 70 years in our former space! 🌺🦅🏫

Our Square 1 Art fundraiser is currently going on now! Order online by November 17th to support the YSES art department. 🎨
After 70 years, Yellow Springs is being rebuilt. We are building our future, one child at a time, thanks to the 612 Eagles whose Lego pieces created this community art piece!

When Yellow Springs Elementary students arrive for the first day of school in the 2026-27 school year, they will attend classes in a new school building.
Yellow Springs student ambassadors were joined by state, local and FCPS leaders for the celebratory groundbreaking ceremony of the new Yellow Springs Elementary on July 29.
This new school, with a capacity of 745 students, will replace the existing Yellow Springs Elementary, which opened in 1957. The new school will add nearly 300 seats from the current Yellow Springs building, helping to address population growth in the community. FCPS is the fastest-growing school district in Maryland by student population.
The replacement Yellow Springs Elementary is part of the FCPS Educational Facilities Master Plan, a 10-year plan that sets goals and addresses future school facility needs in response to enrollment growth. These projects are supported by county and state funding.
Building projects that will support students when the 2025-2026 school year opens on August 20 include:
⭐️A replacement Valley Elementary
⭐️A replacement Green Valley Elementary
⭐️Renovations at Spring Ridge Elementary
⭐️Renovations at Ballenger Creek Elementary
Have a creative summer Eagles!
