David Alan Grier reveals the iconic comedy hits he thought would completely bomb
"It's many wrong turns that I've taken willingly in my career"
"I auditioned for it. But I left gladly. I was like, this show is gonna suck. I mean, this will never go"
"Jim was so nervous, he was literally crawling out of his skin... In my head I was like, again, no one's gonna see this movie"
"I turned that movie down... They said you and Rob Schneider, we'll put you guys together. And I was like, no thank you"
"Meanwhile, the thing made $107 million dollars"

Dear God,
Thank You for waking us up to the blessing of another Tuesday. Please walk with us today, order our steps, protect us, and fill our hearts with peace.
Bless everyone reading this with favor, strength, good news, and beautiful moments. Open doors that no one can shut, make a way where there seems to be none, and turn our quiet prayers into joyful testimonies.
May this Tuesday bring us closer to the things we have been praying for. Replace our worries with peace, our fears with faith, and our struggles with grace.
Keep us covered, guided, and grateful throughout the day.
In Jesus name, Amen.

Dear Lord,
Today, i’m finally dropping my hands. i’m out here draining myself trying to force outcomes and fix things that aren't even in my control. i gotta stop overthinking and just step out of the way because You can’t fight for me if i keep swinging. i just know you're about to turn all this stress, all this anxiety, into my biggest win yet. amen🙏🏽

Dawn Staley on a moment when pressure completely paralyzed her, and why the solution was to stop trying to lead like everyone else, and instead be unapologetically herself:
“I experienced something I’ve never experienced in my life. I was paralyzed. I can’t do this. You feel the pressure because you’ve got to perform.”
“You can’t be the one that dethrones the success that USA has had. I lost sleep.”
“I just kind of exhaled and said, ‘I have to do it my way.’”
“It’s a lonely place.”
“When it’s all said and done, it’s going to be me that failed or got the job done. So I just exhaled and said, ‘I’m going to do it my way.’”
“Don’t let this be an opportunity where you’re mad and in your emotions. You’ve got to learn.”
“Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you… and you just be the conductor.”

John Wooden shares a mindset that we all need to adopt every day.
"Yesterday is gone. That'll never change. Tomorrow is yet to be."
"How can you affect tomorrow? By today. That's the only possible way."
"I tried to get each player to make each day his masterpiece."
Don't get caught up in the past or worry about the future - make today your masterpiece.
Then he shared advice he gave to certain players:
"You've gotta put the past out. Good or bad, it's past - it'll never change. The only way you can affect the future is what you do today."
You can't change yesterday. You can't control tomorrow. You only have today.
Then he recited a poem by Vivian Larimore that he loved:
"I've shut the door on yesterday, its sorrows and mistakes. I've locked within its gloomy walls past failures and heartaches."
"And now I throw the key away to seek another room and furnish it with hopes and smiles and every springtime bloom."
"I've shut the door on yesterday and thrown the key away. Tomorrow holds no fears for me, for I have found today."
"Today is the day that counts. It's today."
The present moment is the only place where you can truly make a difference.
Don't carry yesterday's failures or worry about the unknown.
Focus on what you can control.

A dresser in the Merchant's House Museum, built in 1832, has been discovered as a secret link to the Underground Railroad — the first of its kind discovered in Manhattan in over 100 years.
NY1 received an exclusive first look at the concealed passage, which runs from the second floor down to a pantry hideaway in the basement.
The passageway had been known about for decades, but its purpose was unknown to historians. Museum researchers recently discovered that the builder of the Merchant’s House, Joseph Brewster, was a passionate abolitionist who built false floors in integrated abolitionist churches and created this route in his own home to aid freedom seekers.

listen to you. listen to yourself. "name a christmas jazz song." you don't know anything about traditional western civilization.
Replying to @politico
lol who’d listen to jazz on Christmas? Clearly got no ticket sales.
It’ll be good to have traditional performances again
