Revievers left hand grabs defenders right wrist first (before the defender makes contact), never lets go, and pushes hand away. Both are handsy on this play. A no call was the correct call.
Seeing a lot of talk about a missed defensive PI call on the last play of the BYU Notre Dame game, and that there should have been 1 second left… Ball is snapped, QB flips the ball in his hands, he drops back 5-6 steps, then starts running to his right and the clock is STILL at 4 seconds. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Then, ball is overthrown, BUT receiver initiates contact with the defender AND holds his wrist the entire time to prevent receiver from batting the ball. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Anyone whining about Notre Dame not getting a PI call at the end of the BYU game clearly didn’t watch the whole game. Refs were letting them play. Both sides were handsy. Refs allowed it all game. As a ref myself, we have it hammered in our brains: if you don’t call it in the 1st Q, you sure as heck don’t call it in the 4th. Also, this was somehow DPI on BYU? Spare me Irish tears. BYU outplayed them most of the game.
Early nomination for the worst call of the night

We all joke and say things about the Mormons, but they just talked about Jesus, the gospel, and serving others for two minutes on college gameday in Provo Utah. That’s pretty awesome stuff and I would say most coaches at faith based institutions wouldn’t take the time to do that, so kudos to Kilani Sitaki!

Be @kalanifsitake : >Born in Nuku‘alofa, Tonga in 1975 >Family leaves for Hawaii weeks later >Parents divorce >Father moves you and your siblings to Provo, Utah >Money is tight and can’t afford tickets to BYU games >So your dad parks outside the stadium and you all listen to the radio and the roar of the crowd >Live in a modest two-bedroom apartment >Carry laundry bags to the laundromat because there are no baskets >Dad buys cheap cones and jump ropes at thrift stores and trains you and your brother himself >You look after your younger siblings while he works >Move to Kirkwood, Missouri for high school >Show up and become an all-state running back >Head to BYU as a fullback under LaVell Edwards >Serve a mission for the LDS Church in Oakland >Come back, start for three years, help win a Mountain West title >Get a brief shot with the Bengals >Back injury ends the playing career >Start coaching at Eastern Arizona College >Graduate assistant at BYU >Stops at Southern Utah, then Utah >Become the first Tongan defensive coordinator in FBS history >One year at Oregon State >December 2015: @BYUfootball names you head coach >First Tongan to ever hold the job >Take over a program stuck in independence >No conference, hard schedule, limited national attention, “nobody watching” >Grind through the lean years >Big 12 invites BYU in 2021 >Join the conference in 2023 >Shock the world by immediately contending for the conference >Multiple 10- and 11-win seasons >Alamo Bowl, Pop-Tarts Bowl, ranked teams >Prime-time windows, national broadcasts, big-stage matchups >First Tongan head coach in major college football >Inducted into the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame >Take the program from listening outside the stadium to competing on the biggest stages with the lights on >And now a prime time heavyweight matchup with Notre Dame >And as always, dancing through it all Kalani is someone who has had every reason to lay down and give up, and continually rises to the occasion and beats all expectations. Proud to have him as our coach and as an example for my boys to look up to.
What other head coach has moves like this? 🕺 BYU's Kalani Sitake just kept emoting 🤿

So much love and respect for BYU @kalanifsitake @Pouha91 and the people of Provo. From the minute we parked, it was “Welcome to Provo,” “Good luck today,” “Go Cats.” People offered us food and drinks from their tailgates. Inside the stadium, same thing even ice cream at 2nd quarter . And their crowd was electric I sat in ADA seating with my father in law and he was wearing his Fifita #1 jersey. People constantly checked on him and treated him with nothing but respect, even when Arizona made a play. They probably thought i was his care giver, lol. Made me think, this is what real competition should look like. Welcome people into your home, treat them with respect and grace, then when the ball is kicked off, try to knock each other’s heads off. We hosted our first league games Sunday , six games from 9AM–7PM. I told our staff: make everyone feel welcome. If someone genuinely can’t pay at the door, let them in. Let them watch their kid. If we want to change the culture at the high school and college level, it starts in youth . And I don’t think it’s a coincidence faith is at the center of BYU’s culture. Jesus welcomed everyone to His table. Compete hard. Cheer loud. Want to win BAD. But still love people. Appreciate the love , Provo.

Seeing my boss get “mafana” — excitement & joy— took me right back to 1994, when we celebrated a milestone in our Tongan Stake. Polynesians express love, joy, and meaningful moments through song and dance. Some Island groups through Hula, others do the Haka. In Tonga, we Faiva/Tulafale. 🇹🇴 It was awesome seeing the head man still carry that same excitement and passion today. For his team, ROC, and BYU Nation just like he did back in ’94. GO COUGS!

Ok Ute -- How many athletic programs have an AD so inept he pays their best coach ever millions of dollars to leave and coach for Michigan? How many athletic programs an AD who walks onto the football field in the middle of live plays? Many people are asking...
Replying to @geoffjBYU
I mean, how many athletics programs have an AD and a football coach who can’t even speak to each other like adults? This is more akin to sending two quarreling brothers to their rooms to stop a fight than it is anything a top 25 college athletics department would do.

Today in Relief Society, a mother shared that she sent her teenage son to a week-long church camp with a friend of another faith. For the entire week, he was barraged with criticism from the other kids about his beliefs. At the end of the week, the pastor was answering anonymous questions in front of the whole group. One of them was something like, "How do I convince my Mormon friend that he's wrong?" There's a reason our missionary efforts are so successful. It's because our philosophy is simple and pure—love, share, and invite. I would be so disappointed if a friend of another faith came to one of our activities, and instead of being embraced with open arms was treated like a pariah. There's a sign on all of our chapels that says VISITORS WELCOME and we really mean it.

Please keep my little cousin in your prayers tonight. He was in a serious car accident and has such a bright future ahead of him, on and off the football field. God, please watch over him and bring him through this. 🙏🏽❤️

For the better part of the last 20 years I have served in callings where I do ecclesiastical interviews for BYU applicants, and am still doing so today in my current calling. I very directly tell BYU applicants: "You are voluntarily agreeing to live the Honor Code. If you go to BYU, don't complain about it or try to circumvent it. If you aren't fully committed to living the Honor Code, do yourself and everybody else a favor and DON'T GO TO BYU." I don't care if they are athletes, Fulbright scholars, or virtuoso musicians. The message is the same. I am a BYU graduate and will forever be grateful for the environment I experienced there. It was the result of being surrounded by thousands of my peers who almost to a person were striving to keep their covenants and live the Honor Code. Now, none were perfect, but almost all of the people I associated with at BYU were genuinely striving to do and be their best. I loved it! Prospective BYU students who aren't fully committed to living the Honor Code - athlete or otherwise - are almost always better served going somewhere else for their college experience.

All this Mormons v "Christians" stuff has me cracking up. You're saying the devil has inspired a whole "cult" of people to live decent, kind, generous, Christ like lives, they even worship Christ, but the grand deception is in the fine print? Lol.

There’s been a flood of noise lately. Mockery. Dogpiling. Drive-by “gotcha” clips. People spending hours every day talking about a faith they supposedly left behind years ago. And I know some good members are tired. Some are anxious. Some are angry. Some are wondering if they should just log off. But I keep thinking about this: “For there shall be a time in the last days when the fulness of my gospel shall be preached unto them that have scattered; And they shall contend one with another; and their priests shall contend one with another, and they shall teach with their learning, and deny the Holy Ghost.” 2 Nephi 28:4 The Book of Mormon literally warned us this would happen. Not just disagreement. Not just criticism. Contention. Pride. Endless arguments dressed up as scholarship while the Spirit gets mocked and pushed aside. None of this caught Heaven off guard. The Restoration was never going to arrive quietly. Joseph Smith said the truth would “cut its own way.” And honestly? Some of you need to stop acting shocked that Babylon hates prophets. Take your vitamin pills. President Harold B. Lee wasn’t joking when he said the coming days would require spiritual strength. We were warned this would happen. President Hinckley warned about voices that would ridicule faith. President Kimball taught that discovering the scriptures for ourselves would fortify us against evil influences. So do the simple things harder. Read the Book of Mormon every day. Pray out loud. Go to the temple. Bear testimony. Stop feeding your spirit on rage bait and anti-Mormon clips for hours at a time and then wondering why you feel spiritually sick. The early Saints crossed plains. They buried children in snow. They watched prophets murdered. And still they said: I know. We can survive mean tweets. Christ lives. Joseph Smith saw what he said he saw. The Book of Mormon is true. Priesthood keys are on the earth. The kingdom of God is rolling forward whether X likes it or not. “And if God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 Stand up straight, Saints. The Restoration is not fragile.

I am once again asking why Utah State isn't playing at Utah Tech this year. In-state game that should be played, and Utah State is just so scared to go play a road game against them. The arrogance from Utah State to not schedule a home-and-home with them is gross.

Dear @MLB... The Utah market has a total of like 11 combined fans of the Rockies and the Diamondbacks. Please stop considering this state part of the blackout areas for BOTH teams so that we can watch all of the baseball teams we actually do care about. Thanks, bye.

As the years have passed, I have become increasingly humbled as I have thought about, studied, and found immense comfort in the immeasurable gift of our Savior, the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The human mind can scarcely begin to comprehend how completely the destiny of mankind changed because of what happened in Gethsemane, on the cross, and at the tomb. There are no words to describe the magnitude of His precious gift. It will never be required of another. Jesus Christ suffered “once for all” (Hebrews 10:10). As one of His ordained Apostles, I have experienced the spiritual and personal moments that have brought to me a sure and certain witness that Jesus Christ lives. At this Easter season, may we rejoice in singing: “He is risen! He is risen! ... Death is conquered; man is free. Christ has won the victory” (“He Is Risen!” Hymns, no 199).
