And it passed anyway.
Let me tell you how: they needed 361 votes to say no. On the last day before vacation. Every empty seat counted as a yes.
They lost the vote. They won the law.

Vanaf nu maakt het feit dat je in Europa geboren bent, automatisch dat je verdachte bent van bezit en verspreiding van kinderporno - ook als daar geen aanleiding voor is. De bewijslast is nu voor Europeanen omgedraaid, iedereen is pedofiel. De EU vernietigt onze democratie.
- Chat Control got rejected, then got shoved back in through urgent procedure. That’s not democracy.
- Driver-facing cameras are for distraction monitoring, not “self-driving tech.”
- ZK age/passport checks only limit what the platform sees in that one proof. They don’t fix metadata, scope creep, exclusion or censorship.
Put it all together and you'll see they're building the basis for mass monitoring and access control: scanning your messages, watching your car, ID-gating your internet, controlling your wallet, ...
But sure, it’s all for safety.
