Is this thing still on? Some of you may remember us as @AAFspot from the ill-fated AAF days, and we’re starting back up again to cover the XFL.

Facts or 🧢?
The reports from yesterday/today make it even clearer how much of a clown Tom Dundon was. Made it seem like some sort of NFLPA deal was extremely close, when it doesn’t sound like it was even on the table in the first place.
"They were talking about unprecedented language in the collective bargaining agreement that would have taken months or years to get in.."

Vincent Kennedy McMahon refused to partner with the AAF, and then once they went under he paid $375,000 for all of their equipment. What an absolute savage.

June Jones, Houston’s XFL coach and GM, has hired longtime NFL defensive coordinator, Ted Cottrell, as his DC.

Since our @McClain_on_NFL has reported that June Jones has been hired as the head coach of Houston's XFL team, here's my favorite June Jones photo. June hanging out with a couple other Oilers coaches -Jerry Glanville and Nick Saban - in 1988. chron.com/sports/texans/arti…
This is a pretty big get for the XFL’s Houston team. Football-lifer who was the head coach of both the Falcons and Chargers (interim) back in the day.
XFL BOUND: #ticats offensive coordinator June Jones is leaving to become head coach of XFL Houston franchise, @TSNDaveNaylor confirms. #CFL

New from me: As the AAF was shedding millions each week, Tom Dundon's financial team was trying to nickel and dime its vendors. In the end they didn't even send the agreed-upon partial payments. As one vendor said: “I definitely feel scammed."

The bright side of all this is that the XFL will have an extremely low bar to clear. Any basic semblance of professionalism will make them seem quite legitimate in comparison to the mess that is the AAF.
Buckle up everybody
Remember when I said Reggie Fowler's name would be one to know with the AAF? Here you go:

That last line by Florio is right on, though. The AAF can say it has no money; whether creditors want to take that for an answer depends on whether they feel they were misled about the viability of the operation.
Even “eventually taken care of” is not good enough. Players shouldn’t be being sent any bills period.
Regarding reports that #AAF players received medical bills for lab tests/MRIs/etc: one player told me that he was informed his $1200 MRI bill was eventually taken care of. Charlie Ebersol told me last week no players should have to pay their own medical bills.
