13 OCTOBER — TEAM BERNEY WAS ON THE MOVE!   Folks, we covered so much ground yesterday that I have to tell this story in THREE PARTS! Three events, great conversations, and wonderful people.   STOP #1 — 10:30 AM | LINTHICUM HEIGHTS.  Our first stop was the Women’s Club of Linthicum Heights, where Democrats and Republicans gathered for a good old-fashioned, bipartisan candidates' forum.  We introduced ourselves, answered questions, exchanged ideas, and actually LISTENED to one another. Imagine that! Americans with different political opinions having respectful conversations! Who knew that was still legal?  And did I mention they fed us a fantastic lunch? Now THAT'S my kind of democracy!  A HUGE THANK YOU to Dawn Walsh and her wonderful team for the hospitality!  Only one thing was missing… THE INCUMBENT CONGRESSWOMAN!   Apparently, the invitation made it, but the congresswoman didn't. STOP #2 — 2:30 PM | BAYWOODS OF ANNAPOLIS.  Next, we rolled into Baywoods of Annapolis Retirement Community for another outstanding bipartisan candidates' forum.   My buddies George Gallagher and Dave Crawford joined several other candidates as we fielded thoughtful questions from an engaged audience. But guess what?   The congressional incumbent was missing AGAIN!  This time, she sent a VIDEO!  And here's the funny part: As I stood speaking to the audience, her picture was displayed on a GIANT SCREEN right behind me!   I finally got to share the stage with my opponent…even if she was only there in pixels!  No worries! Our hosts surely meant no harm, and I wasn't fazed one bit.   A special THANK YOU to Ms. Christine Trapnell for putting together such a wonderful event! STOP #3 — 7:00 PM | SOUTH CARROLL REPUBLICAN CLUB.  By evening, Team Berney rolled into Rincon Italian Grill to hang out with our buddies, Scott Hollenbeck,  Joe Leeman, and several of our longtime friends at the South Carroll Republican Club. Now, I wouldn't exactly call what I did a speech. I mostly just RAN MY YAP!   With Clerk of Court Heather Dewees and School Board candidate Cleveland Christopher joining the fun, it felt less like a political gathering and more like a FAMILY REUNION!  Great friends, great laughs, great food, and a whole lot of love for our communities. THE BOTTOM LINE?  Three events. Three great audiences. One incredible day.  And one message I heard loud and clear:  MARYLAND'S 3RD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT IS READY FOR A CHANGE IN DIRECTION!  Folks, I promised to STAND IN THE GAP AND CARRY THE FLAG FOR YOU.    And every day, more Marylanders are joining us on this journey.   I'm not a career politician. I'm just an old retired Air Force lieutenant colonel who still believes public service means SHOWING UP, LISTENING, and ANSWERING TO THE PEOPLE!   Leadership isn't a video message.
