🚨 BREAKING: Republicans spent over $20k on anti-Troy Jackson ads in the wrong state. They presumably confused Portland, Maine with Portland, Oregon

Yes, some evil people will pretend to be against this when it’s too late, like they pretend to have been anti-Iraq now. But they’ll still be in power, and committing new atrocities. To cite that as a reason for optimism is just incredibly tone-deaf and insulting to Palestinians.
Zohran Mamdani on the Gaza genocide: “There’s a book by writer Omar El Akkad: One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This. The reason that stays in my head is it’s such a succinct way of describing the fact that the more years pass, the most people will feel comfortable coming forward and saying that was horrible. And we’ll eventually get to a point where some of the people responsible will start to say that was horrible”

What a digusting way of looking at OEA's statement. He was calling out this exact cowardice: "One day, when it's safe, when there's no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it's too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this."

Did he read the book?… cuz it is about the hypocrisy: that those who are “neutral” or silent now will eventually say that they too were against it when in reality they did nothing to stop it and took no risks. That’s why the title says “will have *always* been against this”

I like my romance novels to be written by people, thank you very much. Also this is so elitist. It’s this attitude that makes people hate literature and think it is inaccessible. As if there isn’t shitty poetry/literary fiction/nonfiction EVERYWHERE.
This is why AI-generated romance novels make perfect sense. Formulaic fiction doesn’t need to be written by hand, so to speak; what difference does it make if a machine “writes” it? There are machine-made clothes & there are custom-made clothes. They appeal to different consumers.

Look, we have no reservations about criticizing Tina Kotek’s priorities (and do so frequently), but she didn’t start the illegal war in Iran that is wreaking havoc on fuel prices and the global economy. That was Daddy Trump.
Tina Kotek refuses to acknowledge the truth that she has been the primary driver of cost increases for Oregon families across our state.

Sean Ward, who opened fire outside the Belleville synagogue on Yom Kippur, was likely a second wave QAnon guy, discharged from the CAF for refusing the COVID vaccine, and radicalized through antisemitism. There’s no indication it had anything to do with Israel, or antizionism.

More than a thousand Palestinian infants have been killed in Gaza over the past 3 years. Each one was beginning to know and love the faces that smiled down at them. May we never be forgiven for how we failed them, for how we let monsters extinguish these little universes.
Dostoyevsky on the death of his infant daughter. A passage that has stayed with me years after I first encountered it

Not a "drone", it's their drone, the one they were operating to kill civilians in the Gaza Strip.
A drone crashed inside the outpost. Nadav and Ofek approached to inspect it, and then it exploded.

Ansarallah made huge gains against Saudi, humiliating them but the Pakistanis refused to get involved saying that the situation didn’t require the Mecca agreement to be implemented. So then there was an “attack” on Mecca blamed on Ansarallah.. .:and now this.

Biden officials most responsible for arming, lying for, and covering up genocide in Gaza have moved on to cushy media, academic and think tank jobs. This is unacceptable: so @TrackAIPAC, @justfp, and @DemSocialists helped create a mechanism to prevent this dropthegenocide20.org/

Ok I did. I imagined I was wrong and Israel is not committing a genocide. Nothing happened except for now I have a justification for every single murdered Palestinian man woman and child I’ve seen over the past 3 years. Now you go. Imagine yout wrong & it’s a genocide. Uh oh…
Imagine for 1 second that you have it wrong and Jews are telling the truth. That the genocide libel is bs. That Hamas are terrorists. That you are being manipulated to desire the removal of Jews from society. Do you understand if we’re right, that makes you the millions of European and African and Asian friends and neighbors who wiped millions of us off 3 continents just a few decades ago? What’s more likely - that we, the tiny minority who have been libeled and blamed and persecuted by every society in which we’ve ever lived for centuries, are the bad guys? Or that you, the non-Jewish masses who have hounded and defamed and slaughtered us all over the world over and over and over again, have once again been suckered in by propaganda you unquestioningly latch onto because it gives you a scapegoat to blame for your own problems and sins? “History repeats itself… except this time! I’m different!” Is essentially what every Jew hater tells themselves. No. You are no different than the Iraqi or Soviet or German or Algerian who turned on their Jewish neighbors the second they got the societal green light. Never in the history of the world has the group persecuting Jews been “on the right side of history.” Not once. Courage isn’t going with the crowd to hate on us some more. That’s easy. Courage is looking in the mirror, in a history book, at what is happening to Jews in our society, and saying stop this train, I’m getting off.

The Oregonian somehow forgot that the Portland Police were routinely escalating at protests and indiscriminately tear gassing huge swathes of the city in 2020. The same year 82% of Portlanders voted to approve a new police accountability board.
Councilor Mitch Green said he regrets the since-deleted tweets. “That's not how I engage in discourse today,” he said.

does this report on “misuse” cover how your software was integrated into Palantir’s Maven system, used by the US military to generate target packages during its bombing campaign in Iran - including the campaign in which a U.S. strike killed 120 kids at a school in Minab?
We're publishing our most detailed threat intelligence report to date. It covers how people tried to misuse Claude—for cyberattacks, influence operations, surveillance, biology, and building weapons—and how we found and stopped them. We disrupted every operation in the report, and used the lessons from them to strengthen our safeguards. Where appropriate, we also shared what we found with authorities and other AI companies. These cases are not typical: we’re highlighting some of the most sophisticated misuse we’ve seen. But they’re especially important to discuss, because they show us where AI misuse is headed, where our safeguards work, and where they need to improve. We’re publishing this report so others can spot the same activity on their own platforms, and so we can give the public a clearer view of how emerging threats develop. Throwing Netanyahu under the bus ensures the protection, in their eyes, of the project and expansion of Israel and the ideology of Zionism as well as obfuscation of American complicity and culpability. This is the same story, with more details, that was circulating in October 2023. It ultimately doesn't matter what they did or didn't know Oct 6th -what matters is what they did and continue to do to the Palestinians and to those who have and continue to stand against it.
Hillary Clinton suggests October 7 was an inside job. "[Netanyahu] wanted to see what they could plan so that then he could come down hard and it would enhance his position."
