Great seeing friends @RobertJSawyer & @MadelineAshby get coverage in my local community paper @centretownbuzz for their panel on how #scifi doesn't predict the future but reflect the present at @Writersfest back in October. (Link to article in comments.)

Glad to have my review of Christine McNair’s Toxemia in @PeriodicityJ this month. This book will resonate with many women, I’m sure, especially when it comes to considering how personal identity and health are woven together in many complex ways. @christinemcnair @bookhugpress

Murray Sinclair was iconic and transformative in his leadership and skills, and also so humble and generous in the Anishinaabe way. He changed the country of Canada as we know it, and his legacy will be profoundly transcendent and immortal. My sincerest condolences to his family.

It saddens me to learn of a hero, a legend, world changer Justice Murray Sinclair’s passing. As the first Indigenous judge appointed in Manitoba and chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), he fundamentally changed how Canada confronts its history of residential schools and Indigenous relations. Justice Sinclair led the historic TRC from 2009 to 2015, documenting the devastating impact of residential schools by gathering testimony from over 6,500 survivors. His work brought previously silenced voices to the forefront of Canadian consciousness and resulted in 94 Calls to Action that continue to shape Canada’s path toward reconciliation. Beyond the TRC, his achievements were remarkable - from his groundbreaking appointment to the bench in 1988 to serving as a respected Senator from 2016-2021. He conducted important inquiries into Indigenous healthcare and justice systems in Manitoba, consistently advocating for systemic change with wisdom, dignity and determination. A respected Ojibwe leader and mentor, Justice Sinclair helped countless Canadians understand that reconciliation is not just about acknowledging the past, but about creating a better future together. His legacy lives on in Canada’s ongoing journey toward truth, healing and meaningful reconciliation. Chi-miigwech, Justice Sinclair, for your transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to justice. My loving condolences to his family as they bid goodbye 🪶 📸 Justin Tang Canadian Press

I went to Winnipeg to see Murray Sinclair in assisted living earlier this year. There, he conducted his final interview. We also went to Selkirk and he showed me where he grew up. It was the culmination of a decade of trust building. Story here: theglobeandmail.com/politics… #cdnpoli

A man whose dedication, impact, service and commitment to the right kind of justice is gone. Canada is better because of him though it didn't deserve him. His legacy is borderless. Rest In Peace Murray Sinclair. apple.news/AsaXJD0puTKCIYOvZ…
