I haven’t been on social media much at all over the last few months because Life, but if any of you play Final Fantasy XIV and call the Light data centre your home, I’d love to add you as a friend ☺️ IGN: Kataera Khala
Have a great New Year, guys!
Happy (very late) anniversary, #storycrafter! Sorry I missed it—between work, Christmas and buying a house, life has been pretty hectic—but here’s to another five incredible years!
Oh also, since I spaced it last month like a dork, HAPPY (late) ANNIVERSARY TO #StoryCrafter chat! Been around five years now! I took over from the sainted scribbler @Writerology who founded it like a badass in 2015!
Thanks for five awesome years, folks, and here’s to five more!

A6. I do enjoy this one from my WIP, Her Clockwork Heart:
“You’re not one of your machines, Pippa. It’s not weak to show emotion. It’s human.” #storycrafter
A6. Ooh, good one! Give me a moment while I dig through some stories 😅 #storycrafter

Question 6: What is your favorite line of dialogue? Yours or someone else's. Or both, feel free to share as much as you’d like!
#StoryCrafter
Bonus q.: That’s a good question! I haven’t had the opportunity to try this out yet, but I’d maybe do italics. #storycrafter

Bonus question: How do you show texting? There doesn’t seem to be a hard rule for it, so I was just wondering.

@Writerology already said it, but yes roleplays are great for getting into a character and they’re basically all writing dialogue in a way.
Also she really is masterful at bringing out characters! If you haven’t, check out her fantastic collection!

And, to celebrate our incredible 2nd birthday, I put together this: a 170-page workbook, full of every #storycrafter roleplay question ever asked. Enjoy, lovelies 💕 >> gum.co/storycraftercollectio…
A5. I only have one modern-setting story at the moment and the MC isn’t very tech savvy so texting and social media hasn’t cropped up yet in my writing, but it would certainly be interesting to try! #storycrafter

Bonus Question: Does anyone else forget to write EVERYTHING ELSE while writing dialogue? XDDD #StoryCrafter

Question 5: Do you include texting and social media in your modern stories? Or would you? Why or why not?
#StoryCrafter
A4. I also like getting a feel for how my characters speak by writing in-character as them, answering questions from their POV, immersing myself in how they speak (yup, basically a roleplay chat 😉!) #storycrafter

A4. A lot of people have mentioned it already, but reading your dialogue aloud can help you get a feel for the flow of it. Does it sound natural? Does it sound forced when it shouldn’t? Would someone *actually* say that? #storycrafter

Question 4: Got any favorite tips or tricks for writing dialogue? Or questions on writing dialogue?
