I haven’t had time to fully dig into all this. But I’ll say this. Pointing out some piece of content from the past does not change the issues with the video posted in the present. Ideally we would all use this opportunity to learn, grow, and make changes for the future for the better. And sometimes it takes the worst form of something for us to realize how damaging something is. To me, the Club WPT Gold post was completely disgusting and inappropriate, any woman or man has a right to be offended by it. It is border line impossible these days to be constructively critical of anything in a way that those it’s being directed at will listen to. Getting defensive and attacking someone is the popular retort these days. But that doesn’t mean we should stop talking about them. I also think it’s tough for anyone to be an ambassador of anything in poker right now. Sponsorships keep a lot of people afloat in this industry and put food on the table, but what organization in poker has funds for sponsorships and a spotless record? None do. So giving time to process and grace to those who are signed by a brand who puts their foot in their mouth is equally as important. It’s never as simple as blasting your sponsors even if it ultimately becomes the right thing to do. I have the utmost respect for Jamie, Nikki, and Abby. I am hoping there are far more productive conversations happening behind the scenes about this right now that aren’t showing up on social media.
