I want us all to take a moment to appreciate Baltimore County Circuit Judge Dennis M. Robinson, Jr, who rejected a prosecutor’s lesser recommendation and sentenced former Baltimore County Fire Department paramedic Christopher Carroll to 25 years in prison. Carroll, you may recall, was the guy who — among other things — ejaculated on a female supervisor’s phone and keyboard, urinated in fire department ice machines and wiped his genitalia on the scoops, ejaculated into a communal coffee creamer bottle, urinated into a wall fragrance dispenser at a doctor’s office and plugged it back in, and committed at least one offense with his children in view. He also urinated into a communal pot of fire department chili, and into a communal fridge. He was caught after a co-worker stumbled across his videos, which he was selling online. In court, Carroll’s lawyer blamed his behavior on his wife’s decision to leave him, but Judge Robinson didn’t buy it. In exchange for a guilty plea, the prosecutor had agreed to recommend that Carroll spend ten years in prison, but after listening to victim impact statements, the judge more than doubled that sentence.
