This coming from a Mayor who voted to cut bus service and raise transit fares. And his plan is to be financed by the upload of the LRT to the Province, based on an agreement yet to be negotiated. This is skin to counting chickens before they are hatched. #OCTranspo
If re-elected, I’ll purchase 200 more buses and hire 250 new drivers and mechanics. See my plan: marksutcliffe2026.ca/priorit…

They’re closing the plant, 360 jobs are being lost and almost half of the manufacturing jobs in the region
Over 400 employees at one of Canada’s last commercial printing facilities have been called into an ‘all hands meeting’
It likely means layoffs or a plant closure for one of the last bastions of industry in Owen Sound. Ontario

Avi Lewis on nationalizing Stelco: "The goal of the tariff war is to de-industrialize Canada. Trump has been clear about that, to destroy our manufacturing industries and other industries. And we have to step up and resist. we need to save the industry, and this is the way to do it."

An ownership stake instead of the conservative way of giving endless blank cheques with our tax dollars is the way.
NEW: Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles is calling on the Ford government to "buy Stelco."

I love to see the NDP back in the groove of calling for nationalization of key industries
Canada cannot afford to lose its steel industry. It's time to nationalize Stelco.
Stelco’s American owners have broken their commitments. Their CEO supports Trump’s tariffs, which are designed to deindustrialize our economy and destroy our manufacturing base.
More than 500 workers in Hamilton are facing layoffs.
If we’re serious about saving these jobs and the Canadian steel industry, Canada must nationalize Stelco.

They only paid $2.8B two years ago. Company is clearly hurting now.
$1.5B each from the province and the feds to make it a crown corporation? I'm down.

It's weird watching Carney-mania as a Canadian historian.
Millions of people electing a right-winger and not realizing it.

"We simply can't add to the financial burden of our residents with big property tax increases."
The difference between a 2% and 4% tax increase for the average homeowner is $8/month, less than the cost of a single Uber that someone needed to take because you didn't fix transit.
Families in Ottawa are facing rising costs. We can't let city hall add to that burden. That's why I’ll keep property tax increases between 2% and 2.5% for the next two years, while protecting and enhancing the municipal services you rely on.

Giving ONE PERSON the arbitrary power to take away a Charter Right is a threat to democracy
It is totalitarian policy
“This bill explicitly gives government the power to end legal strikes when a minister decides that a strike is or could become contrary to the national interest — and the national interest is defined solely by the opinion of the minister,” warns @CanadianLabour’s Bea Bruske.
