#Bundibugyo

As the world celebrated International Food Day on October 16, @WorldVision brings us today to #SANGE in South #Kivu, eastern #DRC , where irrigation is transforming lives. Thanks to the rehabilitation of canals carried out by World Vision, with support from @WFP under the RESILIENCE project, the production of Noella, a mother of seven children, has doubled: from 2 to 4 bags of rice per season. For Sophia, 18, water in the fields means staying in school. In total, 824 hectares are now irrigated and communities are trained in canal maintenance so that water continues to flow sustainably. Watch the video below and share it with your network, because access to healthy and sufficient food should not be a privilege. #JournéeMondialeDeLAlimentation #WorldFoodDay #SécuritéAlimentaire #RDC #Résilience #DéveloppementDurable #clustersecuritealimentaire #WFP

Ebola in the #DRC: Behind the response, humanitarian teams face daily challenges to save lives World Vision is actively contributing to the response to the #Ebola outbreak in #NorthKivu, #SouthKivu and #Ituri provinces. On the ground, our teams are raising community awareness and distributing handwashing kits and hot meals to patients and suspected cases in Ebola Treatment Centres (#ETCs). However, behind these interventions lies a reality that often goes unnoticed: the daily challenges humanitarian workers face in reaching affected areas. In this video, @ige_lasha , one of our field staff, shares her experience travelling from North Kivu to Ituri, highlighting the challenges posed by insecurity and access restrictions. These obstacles significantly complicate the delivery of aid and the continuity of assistance to affected communities. This, too, is the reality of humanitarian action: women and men who, despite the risks, constraints and time spent away from their families, remain committed to providing assistance and hope to the most vulnerable people. World Vision DRC pays tribute to all humanitarian teams mobilised in the response to Ebola.

Creating Lasting Change in North Kivu, DRC Over the past two years, the project"Emergency Response to WASH, Protection and Livelihoods Needs of IDPs and Host Communities in North Kivu" has brought hope, dignity, and resilience to thousands of conflict-affected families. Through integrated interventions in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Child Protection, and Livelihoods, we reached 138,260 people, including 61,418 children, across several territories of North Kivu. Beyond the numbers are powerful stories of transformation. Mothers rebuilding their livelihoods, women finding support and dignity through safe spaces, and children rediscovering joy and hope despite the hardships of displacement.

These stories remind us that humanitarian action is not only about meeting urgent needs, but also about restoring opportunities and strengthening communities. We thank the @StateDept for its support in helping vulnerable women, children, and families affected by crisis access protection, essential services, and opportunities for a brighter future.

#Ebola in the DRC: Why This Outbreak Is So Difficult to Combat So Chris Montgomery has put together this video to better understand what makes Ebola so hard to combat in the Democratic Republic of Congo.r faster than that one did. Ebola has faded out of the news because there's been a lot of news to tell and limited time to tell it, but also because the story is hard to put into headlines. It's wrapped in complex layers of history, traditions, and systemic failure that have combined to make everything worse. So Chris Montgomery, @WorldVision Roving Reporter put together this video to better understand what makes Ebola so hard to combat in the Democratic Republic of #Congo.

World Humanitarian Day, Ebola Response DRC: Christian Kasereka, head of the #Ebola response programme in the #DRC, talks about his deployment to #Beni and #Bunia, the epicentre of the outbreak, where community resistance and misinformation are hindering response efforts and exposing aid workers and healthcare staff to attacks by local people, as well as to the risk of infection by the virus. This has led World Vision DRC to use faith-based awareness-raising initiatives to build trust and break the chain of transmission through an approach known as the ‘Channel of Hope’ (#CoH) Christian calls for the protection of humanitarian workers and for a response that is primarily community-centred. #WHD

Strengthening partnerships to better protect and promote children’s rights in the Democratic Republic of the #Congo. Édouard Ngoy, Country Director of @World_VisionRdc, was received by Ms Micheline Ombae, Minister for Gender, Family and Children, as part of an introductory meeting and official presentation. This meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to working alongside the Ministry on key priorities for children, notably education, health, nutrition and child protection. Discussions focused in particular on the institutionalisation of the Children’s Parliament, the fight against violence against children – including violence affecting boys – economic and educational reintegration, and the promotion of the right to identity and birth registration. World Vision #DRC welcomes this shared commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration and building sustainable solutions for the benefit of children and communities. With our presence in 14 provinces, we remain committed to working alongside the Government and our partners to create an environment in which every child can be protected, heard and able to fully exercise their rights.

The World Vision Southern Africa Regional Director, Matthew Pickard, accompanied by Edouard Ngoy, National Director of World Vision DRC, was received by Damien Mama, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the Democratic Republic of #Congo. The discussions focused on several key issues, including the #Ebola response, the localisation of humanitarian assistance, accountability to affected populations, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse (#PSEA), and strengthening collaboration between World Vision and @UNOCHA_DRC . While commending World Vision’s work with communities, the Resident Humanitarian Coordinator also highlighted priority areas where efforts could be further concentrated to achieve even more significant results, particularly in a humanitarian context severely affected by declining funding. The meeting builds on a strong partnership and ongoing dialogue between the two institutions, driven by a shared objective: to pool efforts and better respond to the needs of the most vulnerable people in the #DRC.

Today, we had the honour of welcoming Matthew Pickard, World Vision SAR Regional Lead, to @World_VisionRdc. During this morning’s devotion, Matthew had the opportunity to engage with World Vision DRC staff and share a message inspired by the Word of God. Beyond this time of fellowship and exchange with our teams, as well as his support for the new leadership of World Vision DRC, his visit also aims to gain a deeper understanding of the realities and challenges facing the #DRC, particularly at a time when the resurgence of #Ebola is posing a serious threat to the lives and well-being of children and vulnerable communities. Matthew commended the work carried out every day by World Vision and its staff in complex contexts, often marked by significant humanitarian, security and operational challenges. He reminded us, however, that our Christian faith remains our greatest shield and source of strength, enabling us to continue serving the most vulnerable children and communities, even in the most difficult circumstances. His message also encouraged us to look to the future with hope, to reflect on how we can contribute to building a better future, and not to idealise the past when the present becomes challenging. Referring to the Israelites during their journey through the wilderness after being freed from slavery in Egypt, he reminded us how easy it can be, in times of difficulty, to long for the past and forget how far we have already come. It was a powerful reminder to keep our eyes focused on the future, remain faithful to our mission and continue, with faith and courage, to build a better future for the children and communities we serve.

As #Ebola cases continue to rise across eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, the humanitarian response is at a critical turning point. In a recent media interview with @AJEnglish , @World_VisionRdc's East Zone Director, David Munkley, warned that the outbreak has exceeded all expectations, with daily cases increasing dramatically and the disease spreading into new health zones. He highlighted the urgent need for greater investment in prevention, community engagement and frontline health services, stressing that trusted local voices - including faith leaders, schools, community leaders and health workers - are essential to building confidence and helping communities adopt life-saving measures. Above all, he called for stronger support to protect children and families who remain at the heart of this crisis. Watch the full interview below and join us in raising awareness of the urgent need for collective action. #DRC #WorldVision #PublicHealth #EmergencyResponse #CommunityEngagement #ChildProtection
