Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run That Killed 60-Year-Old Woman In Vaughan A 41-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a 60-year-old woman who was left undiscovered for two days along a roadway in Vaughan. York Regional Police identified Kamel HAZIME as the accused in the October 4 collision on Pine Valley Drive. He was charged with failure to stop after an accident resulting in death on Friday, October 16. Police said the woman was walking northbound on Pine Valley Drive from Major Mackenzie Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m. when she was struck by a northbound vehicle. The driver fled the scene, leaving the woman undiscovered for two days. Investigators with the Major Collision Investigation Unit later identified the suspect vehicle as a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van believed to be from the 2020 to 2022 model years. Security footage obtained with assistance from the public, along with debris recovered at the scene, helped investigators link the vehicle to the collision. The van remains outstanding, and police have released a photograph of HAZIME as they continue their investigation. Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have information about the vehicle or who has interacted with the accused regarding a damaged Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. Police are also warning that anyone who helps conceal, repair or alter the vehicle to avoid detection could face criminal charges. This includes anyone who performs or arranges bodywork, paintwork or mechanical repairs intended to hide damage caused by the collision. Anyone who has worked on the van or is currently carrying out repairs is urged to stop immediately and contact investigators.
