In 1837, the US president, who had run on the ticket to abolish the central bank and won the election, actually did abolish the central bank. For a quarter century there were no regulations concerning banking. Thousands of banks were created. The economy delivered high economic growth for decades, overtaking the leading economic power, the UK, by 1900.
The freest banking era in American history also delivered the most stable prices Americans ever experienced, and the federal government had almost nothing to do with it.
Between 1837 and 1863, the United States operated without a central bank after Andrew Jackson killed the Second Bank of the United States. Jackson understood monetary economics better than every Federal Reserve chairman combined, despite his inability to read a balance sheet.
What actually happened? Hundreds of competing state-chartered banks issued their own notes. Suffolk Bank in Boston built a private clearinghouse network that disciplined reckless lenders without a single bureaucrat collecting a salary to do it. Banks that over-issued notes faced redemption pressure from competitors. Imagine that: accountability enforced by markets instead of congressional testimony nobody acts on.
The price level in 1863 sat roughly where it sat in 1837. This represents 26 years of near-zero inflation. The Fed has destroyed over 96% of the dollar's purchasing power since 1913.
Critics called free banking chaotic because bank runs happened. Bank runs also happen under central banking (IndyMac, 2008), except now you get to bail out the gamblers with your tax dollars. The chaos argument collapses the moment you ask who pays for the "stability." You pay. Every year. Through currency depreciation that never appears on any bill the government sends you.

A wolf goes a fortnight without food, then eats twenty pounds in one sitting, then sleeps.
A humpback whale goes four months without food and crosses an ocean on the fat it banked in Alaska.
A camel goes a month without food and carries you across a desert while doing it.
Not one of them is light-headed. Not one of them has lost its muscle. Not one of them had a flapjack to keep the blood sugar up.
Every one of them runs on the same thing: fat, kept on the body, turned into fuel when the food stops, and a brain that switches to ketones the moment the stores run down.
You have the same machinery. You have more of it than the penguin.
You have been told it is dangerous to skip breakfast.

Heidi is as psychic as humans can be, and sharp minded. A perfect companion for my personal entry into SciFi World though she's not too enthralled with my idea of taking our floating anti-grav RV down to Antarctica as she's not a fan of cold weather.
i was called 'batshit crazy' in 2002 for saying that general language in our society would be discussing $600 silver prices. i was repeated labeled as a 'crazy old bald guy' then after my appearance on Coast-to-Coast late night radio.
The criticism was even worse on 9 Nov 2011 when i said that BTC was the 'new money' seen in my ALTA reports since 2005. That was the day we had parity between BTC and the US Dollar.
The shit-heaping got real serious when i was forecasting $100,000 BTC parties in the early 'teens and BTC was rising and falling (Mt Gox) around just a buck per BTC. Don't worry about me; it's easy to take the abuse when i know i am correct.
All humans are psychic. Most don't acknowledge it, but they are. So the psychic part of you HAS to leak out somewhere, and it chooses to do so by altering YOUR word choices on social media where my bots sweep up hundreds of millions of such leaks that i distill into my Asymmetric Linguistic Trend Analysis (ALTA) reports.
