From our earliest days, Black history has always been American history – and Black folks have profoundly shaped our American culture through music, art, literature, sports, and beyond. One month a year is not sufficient to celebrate the power of the movements and the people who have fought for the rights we enjoy today. That’s something that we have to do each and every day, as we strive to live up to their example and make sure our children and grandchildren remember their stories.

An excellent reTweet is my last. I'm @workscientist on Bluesky I'm archiving my Twitter content and leaving. Musk's sieg heil yesterday was the last straw. My data, including my thoughts and interactions, are not yours to commodify, rhetoricize, and weaponize. Ignorant coward.

Thank you to the people of the Bronx and Queens for re-electing me to another term in Congress. As a waitress, I never thought serving in Congress would ever be a reality. It will always remain the honor of my life to serve our community.
Thank you NY-14 for re-electing @AOC for a fourth term in Congress! Our campaign is not just about earning votes, it’s about empowering each other to build stronger communities. We beat cynicism and despair with hope and solidarity. Let’s keep fighting 💪🏽

🥧Pie. Pie is what I am having to soothe my weary and wary soul. The genocide in Gaza and COVID pandemic are still here and the work remains. I don’t know what the future holds but I know I am connected to a mighty community that will continue to resist and provide care and love

Look at the price of eggs at Loblaws. How can people on minimum wage afford food in Canada? Not to mention those on disability benefits. Price gouging should be criminal.

Does anyone know how to determine an amount of money for emotional damages and reputation harm relating to a discrimination case? I need to do this for conciliation but I have no idea how to go about it. What happened obliterated my academic career chances and it negatively impacted my physical and emotional health. I could never have gotten another academic job without a reference from my former boss because it was my only research postdoc and she was the incoming president of the biggest organization in the field.

Repost if you feel the same way.
I did not earn a PhD to be broken in a place where people don’t think I belong or shouldn’t speak up for myself and others.

I have usually supported @NDP policy approaches on the environment As a scientist of transdisciplinary research that centers the climate crisis and someone who thinks deeply about science communication, I cannot stand behind the recent statements about the #CarbonTax When we are going to lose so much so soon, we must keep advancing on our commitments to address carbon pollution, not introduce doubt or seek only perfection This is an urgent and immediate need Please reconsider the impacts of your strategies

Oh my fucking god! The EEOC ruled in my favor! They said discrimination occurred! They found reasonable cause. It took 3 years but it is so validating. All of my efforts might actually have been worth it and hopefully I can use this to make change at the large academic medical center where it took place. And FUCK my former boss. She made my life hell for a year and used her power and privilege to destroy my academic career. I hope she is shitting herself over this.

Dear Colleagues at the US Department of Justice (@TheJusticeDept), I would like to report a civil rights violation against Haitian migrants in Springfield, OH and members of the Haitian diaspora in the US. In this Tweet, @JDVance crosses the line from opinion to racism:
In the last several weeks, my office has received many inquiries from actual residents of Springfield who've said their neighbors' pets or local wildlife were abducted by Haitian migrants. It's possible, of course, that all of these rumors will turn out to be false. Do you know what's confirmed? That a child was murdered by a Haitian migrant who had no right to be here. That local health services have been overwhelmed. That communicable diseases--like TB and HIV--have been on the rise. That local schools have struggled to keep up with newcomers who don't know English. That rents have risen so fast that many Springfield families can't afford to put a roof over their head. Here is Kamala Harris bragging about giving amnesty to thousands of Haitian migrants. xitter.cf/i/status/1833147988765… If you're a reporter, or an activist, who didn't give a shit about these suffering Americans until yesterday, I have some advice: Spare your outrage for your fellow citizens suffering under Kamala Harris's policies. Be outraged at yourself for letting this happen.

It is long overdue that racism on campaign trails be interrupted. Leaving these comments unchecked, particularly when uttered by governing public figures, normalizes what is illegal. It is dangerous and traumatizing for those who have the right to safety and security.
