Sally Rooney is a hero. Andy Burnham is quite the opposite and a genocide denier.

This was in 2024. It is still happening & the only difference is we have a replacement Labour Prime Minister who is still supporting Israel in its illegal conflicts & attacks on Palestine/Gaza but will not say that it is genocide or condemn the land grabs which are continuing...
One from the archives Sally Rooney in 2024: ".. we are witnessing an unfolding genocide.. the roots of this particular tragedy are in the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine & the apartheid system.. keep protesting.. it is the least that we can do"

We remain incredibly grateful to Sally Rooney for writing an afterword for ‘The Gaza Tribunal: Britain’s Complicity in Genocide.’ Well done Sally for standing with the Palestinian people. Your political courage is an inspiration to us all.

Thames Water is due to run out of money (again) over the next few weeks. A year and a half ago it was given a £3 billion bailout now it's asking for another £2.4 billion. We really are being taken for mugs. theguardian.com/business/202…

As a British Jew, I'm deeply concerned about the cynical blurring of Zionism & Judaism. Whatever our political differences, Jewish people must never face prejudice or discrimination. So after the Labour Government apologised over Gaza: why are they still arming Israel?
As a British Jew, I am deeply concerned by the Green Party's vote to declare Zionism racism. Whatever our political differences, Jewish people must never face prejudice or discrimination. Yesterday, I raised these concerns in Parliament and asked how Jewish communities can be reassured. I welcome the Home Secretary's clear response: every council, regardless of political control, must uphold equality law and protect its residents from discrimination.

This never happened either. Good god, this is one shit story teller. Definitely not a journalist.
🟢 EXCL: How pro-Palestinian activists ran an organised campaign to take over the Green Party, with @Geri_E_L_Scott Pro-Palestinian activists ran an organised campaign inside the Green Party to recruit members, secure influential party positions and reshape its policies from within, The Times can reveal More than five and a half hours of recordings of weekly Greens for Palestine meetings showed members speaking of “using the party” and attempting to ensure those supportive of their position gained key party roles Members discussed how they would “knock on every door and talk about Palestine”, “take our own leaflets” on Green canvassing trips (which Greens for Palestine have since said did not happen), and join a number of policy working groups to steer policy towards Palestine Animah Kosai, one of the co-chairs, said at a meeting: “I don’t believe in serving the Green Party, and I think some people are going to hate me for this. I actually believe in using the party in order to reach certain goals. And in this case, for Palestine, for anti-imperialism.” Shahrar Ali, the former deputy leader, said the recordings showed “naked entryism that is corrupting the party beyond recognition”. Another longstanding party member said there was “clear evidence” of “a highly organised campaign by a small number of infiltrators to take over the party’s key votes and committees”. Greens for Palestine said they “did not accept the characterisation of this as entryism or infiltration. Encouraging people who care about Palestine to become full members of a party whose leadership they can influence through policy groups, motions and internal elections is open political organising, and it is what the party’s own rules provide for.” And the Greens themselves said “members are entitled to organise and advocate for policies they believe in, provided they do so in accordance with our rules and values”, adding they are “proud of their member-led democracy” Read the full details - and hear the recordings - in @thetimes 👇 thetimes.com/article/0db0686…

Lord Walney is John Woodcock, a former Labour MP, who in 2019 gave a BBC interview in which he said voters should back Boris Johnson. Johnson then gave him a seat for life in the Lords. Woodcock has consistently lied about the 'antisemitism crisis'. #ItWasAScam

The truth is we don’t remotely care as a country… this stuff isn’t even taken seriously by senior politicians The funding Rachel Reeves cut for farmers? That was largely for nature restoration Instead they pretended it was farm subsidies Bad mouthed us And took loads away
‘Shocking and sobering’: UK bird populations fall to lowest level on record Nearly half of species are in decline, with farmland birds and seabirds the worst hit, conservation bodies say 🐦 theguardian.com/environment/…

Argh. @BBCPolitics is running another "debate" about benefits & they're talking PIP again as if it's an out of work payment. If you got every person in receipt of PIP who is out of work into work it would save NOT A PENNY! Because you are entitled to PIP whether you work or not!

In the early 1980s doctors in Cambridge laid premature babies on lambswool, and the babies grew faster. They were the smallest patients in the hospital. 34 infants, born weighing about two and a half pounds, lying in incubators. The standard bedding was a cotton sheet. A psychologist and a paediatrician had heard that mothers in Australia and New Zealand put newborns to sleep on lambskins, and that the babies seemed more settled. So they ran a proper trial. Half the babies were nursed on cotton. Half were nursed on a pad of lambswool. Nothing else was changed. The result went into the Lancet in 1983. The babies on wool put on 22.7 grams a day. The babies on cotton put on 18.6. That is nearly a quarter more growth, in children for whom every gram is a step away from danger, from changing what they lay on. Nobody was entirely sure why. Wool holds a layer of still, warm air against the skin. It takes up moisture without feeling damp. It gives under a body where a sheet does not. Hospitals had known a version of this for a long time. For decades a patient who was bedbound was put on a sheepskin to stop the skin breaking down, and trials in Australia later confirmed that real sheepskin prevents bedsores. Then came the synthetic version. A sheet of polyester pile that could be boiled and cost a fraction as much. It looked the part. It does not do the job. A ewe grows the best thing ever found for a newborn to lie on, and a lamb is born onto it. The hospital tested that against the alternative and wool won. The alternative was cheaper, so that is what most babies get.

US diesel "shortage" is trumped-up! Cda exports 4.2 M bbls/day of crude to US. making 1.2M bbls of diesel + products like gasoline. US produces 5.3M bbls of diesel + exports 1.7M bbls. Domestic demand for diesel is only 3.5M bbls. There's no shortage of diesel in the USA!
