Did some maintenance on my modded SNES. Ended up finding a leaky cap I couldn’t see until I removed it.
Replaced the 2 through-hole caps (I don’t have any SMD caps at the moment so can’t do the other 6 yet)
Installed the huge 1000uF cap Nintendo left out - used for extra ripple filtering (reduces video noise) which is especially useful with third party AC adapters
Replaced the voltage regulator with a new one
Reflowed the power jack and controller port
Used Deoxit F5 on the power switch and reset button
Cleaned the cartridge slot with 99% IPA
Looks great! Definitely less noise in the picture. I’ll tear it down again to do the SMD re-cap when they come

I was once arrested while blaring NWA's Fuk Da Police on repeat in my car. It was purely coincidental.

Woo! Dreamcast in RetroPie is now running smoothly at 1080p on my Raspberry Pi 4b. After overclocking the RPi, I had to keep changing settings 1 at a time, rebooting each time until I got it to work
So, I got this new micro soldering station to repair modern consoles. It has 2 handles: one for micro work and one for standard work. It’ll allow me to replace my old standard soldering iron.
Yet, I keep going back to the old one to the point I haven’t even used the new one. The old one isn’t even that good. The biggest problem is the inconsistent temperature. It doesn’t even compare so what the hell?
Old habits I guess?
My little lab partner lying on her favorite Jurassic Park blanket.
This little 6 month old girl has helped me through so much since we rescued her from a dump 3 months ago.
From not being able to walk on my left foot and the pain that comes with it to putting down our 15 year old sweet pup, she’s been there, the brightest light and the most loving creature.
Plus, she befriended our blind cat and now they’re best friends. She’s done so much for all of us.
I love you, Elsie.

I’m not sure exactly what you’re trying to say but I got Secret of Mana CIB for $100 with free shipping. That’s less than half the average value. That is a “huge bargain”.
Also, I was old enough to play both that and Chrono Trigger when they were released and played them both for many, many hours. Then many more hours over the decades. That’s 33 years I’ve known and played those games along with loads of other SNES RPGs that I owned. Not that I need to justify my ranking.
Were you even old enough to play them when they came out?
Replying to @Wolfsbora
Secret of Mana landing CIB as a "huge bargain" while Chrono Trigger still owns the pedestal is peak SNES RPG household ranking.

Loving this electronics microscope. That’s a tiny Godzilla I 3D printed. The eye is being magnified on a 10” screen (Sharpie for scale)
First (and very simple) project in the lab - replace the original battery in Secret of Mana I just picked up
Talk about patience - waiting over a week for it to arrive but have to stop yourself from playing it the first time because you don’t want your save disappearing because of a dying 33 year old battery
Look what just arrived!! Secret of Mana CIB. Another huge bargain. I have always loved this game. It’s second only to Chrono Trigger for me when it comes to SNES RPGs. I regretted selling my loose copy as soon as it left my hands. It’s so good to have it back plus some
I know I’ve been on a Genesis kick lately but when I saw this on FB Marketplace I had to reach out. Ended up making friends with the guy and after a couple of month of no takers he gave me a deal I couldn’t refuse
My new lab is coming together thanks to my first paid repair in years! I was able to get more necessary gear to take on more projects. And moving to my old office is much easier to get to than my old basement lab.
The primary equipment is setup and in place. I still need to get my oscilloscope in here, same with some tools, and figure out a way to store my thousands of electronic components so they are easily in reach.
I need another desk to make it an L shape otherwise the oscilloscope and other stuff won’t fit. But at least I’m mostly ready to go.
If you’re in the Pittsburgh area (or are comfortable shipping) and need a console or game to repair, or if you simply want the batteries replaced in either of them, I’d be happy to take on your project!
A huge thank you to my good friend @cskiles for his support and trusting me with his 3DO and for him and his awesome cohost at @TheNerdyHippies @jdwolfpgh for giving me a shoutout on their channel! Those guys are AWESOME!
Hey @tigheklory! Which oscilloscope should I use? They’re both ancient, made around 2000 but both work. The HP is massive (basically a full size PC case on its side) but has 4 channels and it has all of the mini and regular probes plus every single accessory and all of the huge manuals. And….runs on Windows ‘98 😂. The Agilent with the green phosphor CRT is much smaller but 2 channel and no documentation
They’re both surprisingly accurate or at least really close to it. Either way I don’t have much room for them so I have to figure that out, too
It’s not in the budget to get a new one, yet, or I’d just do that instead.
Still cancelled. They knew well in advance this was coming but didn't share it with the rest of us until much later. I appreciate not shipping garbage but I appreciate communication even more

Hay mucho revuelo con el retraso a 2027, gente cancelando sus reservas y otras teniendo fe.
¿Como lo veis? ¿Mantenéis la reserva?
So happy this was ported to the NEO•GEO. Any time I turn it on with my NEOSD, I have to play this at least once
This is terrible. Hyper Light Drifter was such a refreshing game when it launched. The artwork was beautiful and the gameplay so much fun. Plus they licensed this amazing thing…
