I am not even exaggerating when I say this movie is the greatest acheivement in the history of animation
Not even just the best stop motion movie of all time but one of the greatest animated movies ever made

last time an animated film was nominated for BP was in 2010 with toy story 3, we desperately need a stop motion film to be nominated next. especially a film like wildwood

So, Wildwood is terrific. A lot of old folks like me wish for the dark, quasi-traumatic family film of our youths. We don’t get them very often, but Wildwood fits the bill. High fantasy, real stakes, complicated characters, incredible animation. Long live Laika.

Go see Wildwood in the theater, the whole movie was a pleasure to watch. It just climbed up to one of my all time favorite animated films.

been trying to explain to people that this is an Akira level magnitude of filmmaking
glad I wasn’t the only one who picked up on that

My mom scoffed when the gay couple popped up in the movie as if laika wasn’t one of the first studio to have an openly gay character

Please. *Please* just go and see this and give it a steady growth. I know that it's a given for LAIKA films not to do very well but we need to show up.
Prove to the studios that in this world of soulless slop where people have no attention span, a film like this still matters.

To everyone celebrating Lula’s reelection victory, I just want us to all acknowledge Erika Hilton right here. She’s a Black trans woman who became the most voted congresswoman in Brazilian history this cycle and has been campaigning nonstop for Lula in the second round

there are multiple moments in this movie - and that final fight in particular - where the artistry on display is so aesthetically overwhelming that i was instantly out of breath and moved to tears. an astonishing, once-in-a-lifetime achievement of filmmaking and storytelling that made me feel like i was falling in love with fantasy for the first time all over again.
one of the strongest arguments i’ve ever seen against anything thinking it can replace art that humans make themselves. pure magic as a movie.

Wildwood is one of the biggest examples of why I’m begging folks who make media for younger audiences to stop holding back on kids. Took my younger cousin (11) with me to see the film and he was extremely engaged, quietly commenting and theorizing throughout the film.
‘Big City Greens’ storyboard artist Gabi Rodea encourages parents to have their children see ‘Wildwood’ for its mature storytelling.
“Big studios like Disney and Paramount want to sanitize stories, effectively training children not to think about sadness or fear. Wildwood is for kids to be inspired by how they feel when they see a great movie.”

If you like animation, go watch Wildwood. If you like Lord of the Rings, go watch Wildwood. If you like Chronicles of Narnia, go watch Wildwood. If you like fairytales, go watch Wildwood. If you like movies, go watch Wildwood. If you hate AI, GO WATCH WILDWOOD!!!!

Ive seen French folks celebrating Brazil tonight
Ive seen Brazil folks standing with France these past weeks even when having their own fights to worry about
A beautiful reminder all our struggles are connected and we arent alone. We have brothers and sisters everywhere
