I'm writing a syst. review on Rett Syndrome - an X-linked disorder that the lit describes as mostly (but not exclusively) affecting 'girls'/'females'.
It strikes me that this language could be both more inclusive and precise - i'm currently using phrases such as 'XX-individuals'
,'XX-females', 'XY-males', or 'XXY-males' (individuals with Kleinfelter syndrome).
Would love to invite friendly discussion from #AcademicTwitter, patients and beyond on my approach - suggestions on how to best do this are very welcome!
