The Washington Wizards are hiring David Vanterpool as an assistant coach, sources tell ESPN. He’ll join Wes Unseld’s staff after stops with Brooklyn, Minnesota and Portland. A native of the Washington, DC-area, Vanterpool brings a strong background in player development.

(2/2) Reporting with @ShamsCharania, via league sources: The new deal also includes a 15% trade bonus, and the guaranteed salaries descend year to year. The salaries below are rounded:
2023-24: $25.6 million
2024-25: $23.5 million
2025-26: $21.5 million
2026-27: $19.4 million
Reporting with @ShamsCharania via league sources: Kyle Kuzma's new contract is now official, and it is a straight four-year contract, with no team or player options, and it's worth a total of $90 million guaranteed, with $6 million of unlikely bonuses all tied to team performance
this a good deal for both sides

It’s possible Wizards don’t start tanking until 2025 theathletic.com/4675565/2023…

That’s rough
Damian Lillard had interest in the Warriors before Golden State landed Chris Paul, per @ramonashelburne
“They could have waited for Dame. Dame is from the Bay Area. I know he was interested...If he was going to ask for a trade...the Warriors would have been on that list.”

#Wizards fans: It looks like Will Dawkins is interested in… Grant Williams?! #Celtics looking for sign and trade possibilities or matching a MLE offer sheet.
So... why hasn't Jaylen Brown signed his extension yet? @JaredWeissNBA explains.
"Sources told The Athletic the first domino they expect to fall will be Grant Williams’ restricted free agency."

🚨 Wizards Summer League Roster 🚨
Landom Tatum will be head coach after serving as associate HC for the Go-Go last year and part of the Wizards player development staff for his 6 years in D.C.
what?
"I wouldn’t want him for one dollar, or for free at this point"
The Junkies aren't a fan of the Kyle Kuzma signing:

Will be interesting to see if this happens. Even without a no trade clause, players might still be able to force their way to a team
NEW: Even as Portland speaks of canvassing league to do what's best for them, Lillard remains unwavering, resolute, adamant in determination to get to Miami, sources reiterated to me and @Anthony_Chiang. PLUS Richardson, Strus, Bryant, more notes: miamiherald.com/sports/nba/m…
According to EPM, Porzingis, Beal and Monte combined for 21.5 wins while Poole and Tyus combined for 7.8 wins. That’s a loss of almost 14 wins dunksandthrees.com/epm
Agree with this
In agreeing to re-sign Kyle Kuzma, the Washington Wizards may have put themselves back in the situation they spent the last few weeks fixing. My story for @TheAthleticNBA:
