This will be in tomorrow's Border Update but deserves its own separate post: Profiles of 15 young Venezuelan men shipped off to El Salvador's prisons last Saturday. None of them seem to be gang members—not at all. Post is here, with links to sources: adamisacson.com/who-did-the-…

DHS told us they're "racking up flights" via ICE, DoD, commercial & foreign flights. We asked for details but didn't get anything further. Data from ICE Air tracker Thomas Cartwright w @WitnessBorder shows chartered ICE Air flights are actually down compared to last year.

New: Annunciation House, the Catholic migrant shelter in El Paso, wins in district court against @KenPaxtonTX’s efforts to shut it down. Judge calls the Attorney General’s subpoenas and accusations of wrongdoing “harassment and overreaching.”

🚨3 migrants dead in remote Arizona desert. Border Patrol blames everyone — heat, terrain, smugglers — but the policies pushing people to make dangerous crossings. This is exactly the result experts predicted after the Biden admin's recent anti-asylum policies.

⁉️ ICE Air to China and South Korea? I’m tracking this flight now on the way to China and it seems reasonably likely to be a deportation, but it can’t be confirmed, unless ICE decides to announce it later next week, or responds to a media request. Although the flight plan has not been posted, I believe the next stop will be South Korea. This is a large (225 – 250 passenger) OMNI Air jet, the same as those that operate long-distance deportations, and the route is the same as one operated March 30 by a small jet (16 passengers). This would be the first large jet deportation to China at least since I started tracking January 2020.

How long can/will this recirculation of migrants last in Mexico? Apprehensions in Mexico in the first 4 months of 2024 of 481,025, and deportations by Mexico during the same time of 10,427.
For the 4th straight month, #Mexico authorities report encountering 120,000 migrants which, as the chart indicates, is most unprecedented. Chart: borderoversight.org/2024/05/… Table: docs.google.com/spreadsheets… Source: politicamigratoria.gob.mx/es…

Darién update: witnesses estimate that at least 12 migrants were forcibly taken by Panamanian border police after the reception center protest. 2 days later, family members still don’t know where they are. Videos I’ve received appear to show police violence against migrants.

This is a massive escalation in Texas’s war on the federal government and on people of faith who feel called by God to support the stranger. Annunciation House has been a vital partner to the Border Patrol over the last decade as well. They’ve helped El Paso immensely.
