OPay has really suffered in people’s hands. I remember back in Enugu when I used to run POS. My neighbour reported me to our landlord and almost got the police to arrest me because we had a failed withdrawal and the bank refused to settle the account. When he was reporting me to the landlord, he said, and I quote, “I heard OPay is closing soon and running away with people’s money.” I laughed, eh. But I understood his frustration. These commercial banks always delay when it comes to resolving issues that involve fintechs. That was my experience then o, I don’t know about now. Anyway, I entered his bank that day and made sure I caused a scene because the man had already gone there three times and they still wouldn’t initiate the refund; they just kept posting him. The day I went with him was the fourth day. I was shouting and making sure the cameras saw me. I told the man that day to go ahead and arrest me so I could sue them. Brothers and sisters, they refunded the money within 24 hours.
