Attended a routine SHIELD briefing this morning. Everything was going well until our almost-6-month-old daughterβ€”who, according to every medical professional on Earth, should not yet be capable of independent locomotionβ€”came STOMPING into the home office screaming like an air raid siren. For one glorious, horrifying second, I genuinely thought we'd been breached. Turns out she was just angry that I wasn't holding her. Steve hasn't stopped laughing. Bruce is requesting to run more tests. James, I'm sure, will be "very proud" once he gets over missing her first step. I'm considering changing my identity.

The Widow isn't entirely sure which part of today exhausted her more. The walking. The shopping. Or explaining to a police officerβ€”with a perfectly straight faceβ€”that, yes, the suspect was six months old. The patrol car rolls to a stop outside the little bed-and-breakfast just before midnight. 23:52. Blue lights long since switched off. The officer climbs out first, opening the passenger door with the sort of careful politeness reserved for people who've experienced something they'll never quite be able to explain to their colleagues. Natasha steps onto the gravel with one hand supporting Eevee, still fast asleep against her chest. Tiny fist curled beneath her chin. Mouth slightly open. The picture of absolute innocence. If one ignored the strawberry ice cream still smeared across one cheek. And the witness statements. "...Again," the officer says carefully, rubbing the bridge of his nose, "I've... never arrested an infant before." "You didn't," Natasha states simply. "No." "You considered it." "...For about thirty seconds." Natasha sighs, slow and heavy. "She showed remarkable restraint." The officer blinks. "...She threw a sugar dispenser." "She didn't throw the chair." "..." "..." "I suppose that's true." Another tired sigh escapes her as she adjusts the sleeping menace against her chest. "It started because someone loudly informed the entire ice cream parlour that a baby that young shouldn't be standing." And as if it solidified the argument, she addedβ€” "They also called her spoiled." Natasha considers it for a moment. "...That appears to have been the catalyst." The officer stares at the peacefully sleeping child. "...She hit him with a napkin dispenser." "It was impressive." "It was metal." "It was accurate." The officer didn't seem to have the strength to argue. "...I'm writing this report exactly once." "I don't envy you." He laughs despite himself before tipping an imaginary hat toward the sleeping super soldier. "I hope she has a quieter day tomorrow." Natasha looks down at the angelic little face nestled against her. "...So do I." She waits until the patrol car disappears down the road before fishing the room key from her pocket. One exhausted exhale. One aching shoulder. One sleeping six-month-old currently blissfully unaware that she'd very nearly become the youngest person in history to collect assault charges over ice cream. The front door creaks open. "...James?" she calls quietly into the cabin. A beat of silence before the corner of her mouth twitches. "We're back." She steps inside before giving the door a slight kick with her heel and then reversing it closed with her rear. "...And your daughter has officially declared war on the elderly."

It's late. The ridiculously strong baby is asleep in her little travel cot. It's eerie how such a little thingβ€”such an innocent looking little thing could sow so much chaos. But that was another mystery to be solved at a different hour. For now all she wanted was to crawl into bed and curl into @WinterUnbroken, to burrow into the warmth and safety that is him.

A friendly reminder that Bucky is such an unrivaled sniper that he sparked a legend among Hydra troops that soldiers would drop dead as Captain America approached. In the canonical book The Wakanda Files, Colonel Phillis’s report states that Bucky had a 90% accuracy rate on long-range shots. To put this in perspective, in actual combat, not even the deadliest snipers in history maintained a 90% hit rate on long-range shots. Simo HΓ€yhΓ€, who holds the record for the highest number of confirmed kills, made most of his more than 500 hits at a range of about 100–150 m, using open sights, and aimed for the torso because the head was too small a target. Zaitsev, Hathcock, and Kyle racked up their numbers primarily at ranges under 500–600 m; shots at 1,000 m or more were exceptions, not the norm. Technical estimates point in the same direction: against a standing man, the probability of a hit is around 90% at 300 m, drops to about 50% at 800 m, and stands at around 20% at 1,000 m, even with a sniper rifle. Wind, errors in estimating distance, and flight time degrade the first shot long before effects such as the Coriolis force come into play. That is why a sustained 90% hit rate on long-range shotsβ€”in direct combat, not on a shooting rangeβ€”is beyond what has been documented. It is not the limit of what a marksman can achieve: it is a superhuman ability. We must also consider that since Bucky was drafted into the army in January 1942 and sent into combat in June 1943, and since there are no references to him having had any experience as a sniper prior to that time, it means that everything he learned took place over the course of a year and a half. The best snipers are mostly veterans who hone their skills over many years of experience. Bucky was real, and he was literally a legend and a prodigy in that field πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή
