Anthropic: "AI will kill us all!" Everyone: "How?" Anthropic: "Because it is smart." Everyone: "Can you be more specific?" Anthropic: "We are going to build a bio lab for it." Everyone: "..." This is like an episode of Seinfeld.
ANTHROPIC BUILDS BIOLOGY LAB TO PUSH AI INTO DRUG DEVELOPMENT Anthropic has quietly established a Bay Area wet lab, moving its life-sciences ambitions beyond computer simulations and into physical biological experiments. The company wants Claude to direct laboratory robots with limited human intervention, potentially accelerating research into rare and traditionally “undruggable” diseases. Anthropic says it will focus on preclinical research rather than clinical trials, avoiding direct competition with pharmaceutical companies.

Yes, that is why we are taking an unacceptable amount of civilizational risk by not having what he stands for replicated in a distributed institution. An extraordinary share of civilizational hope currently sits in one man – one mortal, one account, one set of shoulders. So not only he has to be protected, but what he stands for has to be turned into an institution – distributed, permanent, capable of carrying the torch if we lose the man carrying it. A Council of Western Civilization. A body that says publicly what is legitimate and what is corrupt, and outlives everyone who founds it. (Venice used to have a Council of X:) We are lucky to live in his era. Luck is not a civilizational strategy.
We are incredibly lucky to live in the same era as Elon Musk.

Dear socialist friend, Nothing is stopping you. If collective ownership works so much better, you can prove it by next Tuesday. Pool your savings with your comrades. Elect a planning committee. Run a bakery, a farm, a repair shop – shared ownership, equal pay, decisions by vote. All of it is fully legal, today, everywhere in the West. No revolution needed. And yet. You want the workers to seize the factories – but you won’t open a food truck with three people from your group chat. You demand collective housing – but you won’t sign a joint lease with people who agree with you about everything. People have tried voluntary socialism for two hundred years. The communes keep dissolving – the members simply walk out. The only socialist countries that lasted were the ones that locked the borders. That’s the whole story. Where leaving is allowed, everyone leaves. Socialism only survives where leaving is banned. The people voted – on foot. Just do it. Or admit that "collective" was always just a word for other people’s property.

You don't have to live like this kids. You could just not live in Manhattan. You don't need the $40 cocktails. You can build your own life more cheaply, more beautifully, more comfortably, elsewhere. You have The Internet. The entire Earth is available. Don't suffer for no reason
The average Manhattan apartment is now renting for $6,655 a month, per Bloomberg.

Milton Friedman on 4 ways to spend money: 1) Your money on yourself (you’re careful about both cost and quality) 2) Your money on others (you care about cost, less about quality) 3) Someone else’s money on yourself (you care about quality, not cost) 4) Someone else’s money on others (you care about neither) The last one is how government spending works.

The most troubling thing about the Fauci diaries is his almost cheerleading the rising death count because the rising death count correlated to his growing media celebrity, as he reported in detail.

How many hundreds or thousands of doctors had their medical licenses stripped for not complying with Fauci edicts? Turnabout is fair play, and frankly is a very light sentence in his case.

The US Government needs to pay Nick Shirley for doing a service of saving the taxpayers money. We need to incentivize this type of reporting so the revenue is coming from the outcome. Right now the incentive is to do the fraud, there are too many liabilities in stopping it.

The best evidence that @NYCMayor Mamdani has not held a job is the fact that he is sitting on the wrong side of the desk. And listen to his words. On a day when we, and in particular, our leaders should be celebrating the 250 years of our nation’s history, he attacks us and what makes our country great. Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists are grave threats to our present and our future.
JUST IN: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani used America’s 250th anniversary to sharply criticize the country, accusing the U.S. of allowing children to go hungry while billionaires and “oligarchs” gain more power. He said America’s wealth was built by working people with “calloused, dirt-streaked hands" while accusing the country of allowing the wealth built by workers to be concentrated in “the soft hands of a precious few.”
