A nice tribute from @TheGillsFC .
Today we remember our former captain, Doug Loft, who represented our club between 2014-2016.
Doug was a much loved figure at the club and he will be sorely missed by everyone associated with Gillingham FC.
Rest in peace Lofty 💙

The man was a genius.
Disney has somewhere between 16 and 30 hours of Robin Williams riffing as the Genie that never made it into Aladdin. His will keeps nearly all of it locked up until August 11, 2039.
And the reason goes back to the $75,000 Disney paid him for the part.
That's him in the booth in this clip, and you can see why the tapes piled up. He kept going off script, and the animators more or less had to animate whatever came out of him. Eric Goldberg ended up building the Genie around Robin's old standup bits, and a former Disney exec later said that when he was on, he was doing about 30 jokes a minute.
$75,000 was union scale. His normal rate back then was around $8 million a movie, so he took less than 1% of what he usually got. He said he did it to make something for his kids, and he asked for one thing in return. Disney couldn't use his voice to sell toys and fast food, and the Genie couldn't take up more than a quarter of the ads.
Aladdin made over $500 million. The Genie ended up in Burger King promotions and plastered across bus shelters all over LA. When Robin complained publicly, Disney sources told the LA Times it was sour grapes over the paycheck, and the studio's line was that he'd signed off on the marketing. At some point a Picasso showed up as a peace offering, reportedly worth around $1 million.
He still refused to do the sequel. Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson, played the Genie instead, and Robin only came back after Disney got a new studio chief in 1994 who apologized in public.
You'd think that was the end of it. Then his estate plan went public in 2015, a year after he died.
His trust gave his name, signature, photo and likeness to a charity and blocked anyone from using them commercially for 25 years. Lawyers back then wrote about it as a way to stop somebody from making a Robin Williams hologram or dropping him into a new movie with CGI, which sounded a little out there in 2015. A former Disney exec later said that clause is why all those Genie outtakes never got turned into another Aladdin movie. When Disney made a short for its 100th anniversary in 2023, the family okayed exactly one unheard Genie line.
Then Sora 2 came out in October 2025, and suddenly anybody could make a fake Robin Williams video in a few minutes. People flooded TikTok with them, fake ads, fake award show bits. It got bad enough that his daughter Zelda posted, "Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad."
Those Genie tapes are going to sit in Disney's vault for almost 13 more years, because a guy who got paid $75,000 in 1992 made sure of it.

A dramatic finish at Vale Park as a late O’s goal seemed to have won the game but Vale had other ideas as two late, late goals from Dennis Politic & Jamie Proctor won the game for Vale. Att 5,667 #pvfc
I think a school in Iceland has a live stream of a Macciea burger that hasn't rotted. Also coka cola cleans your toilet brilliantly and white wine is the best thing to remove a red wine stain.
🚨 MCDONALD’S JUST ADMITTED THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING TO THEIR OWN FOOD — AND THE INTERNET IS GOING CRAZY
A guy noticed a bizarre spot on his McDonald’s bun and posted it online because he genuinely wanted to know what the hell it was.
Then McDonald’s showed up in the comments.
Their response?
“Ran to the comments because idk either”
That’s when people lost it.
Because if McDonald’s doesn’t know what’s happening to its own food, who the hell does?
Another man has been documenting a McDonald’s cheeseburger for 515 DAYS and says it still hasn’t visibly rotted or molded.
The original receipt sitting next to it has literally deteriorated more than the burger itself.
He also has a 119-day-old Quarter Pounder that still appears largely intact and a 25-day-old McChicken sandwich where the lettuce is visibly deteriorating while the chicken patty barely seems to have changed.
If McDonald’s can’t even explain what’s happening to its own food, why the hell are millions of people still eating it without asking questions?
The trouble with this is, if it is true that religion will carry on as if it doesn't exist. No one ever has debated me about the Gospel according to Judas. Not one. They just call him the arch betrayed and have done.
I dont normally like to talk about my personal problems online. I keep them for private. Life is tough. I really miss my dog akd my home feels so empty without one. I am keeping myself busy, but life isn't the same without a best mate around.

This mince doesn't look right. It looks poor quality and not fit for human consumption.
Lidl has started adding PEA PROTEIN to beef mince… and calling it “High Protein Beef Mince.”
No, seriously. Apparently beef wasn’t protein enough.
This new range landed in Lidl stores across Britain on 18 September. It mixes British meat with plant based pea protein, and Lidl says the products contain at least 20% more protein than their traditional versions.
Lidl has committed to increasing plant based protein to 25% of the protein it sells by 2030. And Lidl itself says this new hybrid meat range helps bring its “Planetary Health Diet commitments” onto supermarket shelves.
So we’re taking beef, one of the most naturally protein rich foods humans eat, mixing pea protein into it, then putting a massive HIGH PROTEIN label on the front as though we’ve somehow improved meat.
That’s quite a marketing trick.
If I pick up a packet labelled BEEF MINCE, I want beef mince.
Not beef mince quietly helping a supermarket hit its plant protein targets.
How long before finding a packet containing just beef becomes the premium option?

I have spent 23 years documenting the global LED transition of city lighting from space.
Across my 4 missions to the ISS, I have photographed every major city on Earth, building a data set of the gradual replacement of sodium vapor lighting with LEDs.
The warmer, yellow-orange of gas discharge lamps has been phased out worldwide to multi-colored LEDs, citing energy savings and environmental reasons.
Widespread adoption has markedly changed the way our cities look from orbit, and as many have pointed out, how they feel to those on the ground!
Here is a collection of the most striking before-and-after photos I have observed:
Shame on this woman. I sat on a jury on a case of a stepd dad graping his step daughter and her friend. I sat through statements and testimonies. One day we sat and it was my 40th birthday and I didnt want to be there. However I was there to do a job despite what I wanted and did not want.
I am legally not allowed to say what happened in the jury room or our deliberations. However I am allowed to outline my thoughts on when I was walking my dog. My logic was very simple when I have looked after my friend's kids I didnt grape them. It is very simple. You are there to do a job and you are there to ensure the safety of those who are weaker than you. It is very simple if you are in a position of trust you look after those kids and dont abuse the trust bestowed on you.
Shame on this woman and shame on this jury panel. They should feel the consequences of that.
MEET KIMBERLY.
If you’re using “11-1” to argue the lone juror in the Lindsay Clancy trial must have been wrong, watch this.
Kimberly served on a statutory rape jury years ago.
Eleven jurors believed the defendant was guilty.
One refused.
After hours of deliberating, the eleven eventually changed their votes to NOT GUILTY.
Did the evidence change?
No.
Kimberly says they were tired. They wanted to go home. They didn’t like the teenage victim.
A man they believed was guilty walked free.
She still considers it one of the biggest regrets of her life.
THAT is why I won’t dismiss the Clancy holdout simply because eleven people disagreed with him.
Eleven people can be wrong.
Eleven people can cave.
Eleven people can just want the deliberations to end.
The entire purpose of requiring unanimity is that the twelfth juror is allowed to say:
No. You haven’t convinced me.
And refuse to move.
