With so many Denisovans identified, I'm not that surprised that Xujiayao is a Denisovan; however this is a highly important paper as it refutes claims about it being a different species than the Harbin cranium, and refutes it being an early Sapiens (reinforcing OOA)

Reich's paper does not provide archaeological or genetic evidence that places the Proto-sapiens lineage in the Near East; this hypothesis is based on the Near East being the midpoint between the populations that Proto-sapiens mixed with: European Archaics & African Archaics.

OOA is not wrong, read the papers again... So were others, such as East Eurasians, and dif. African groups... All humans have the archaic Ghost (~20%). There may be additional 0-5% for some African groups... N.Euros were invaded by the same group that migrated into India...

Baboons actually are a perfect example of WHY species is often a social construct. Yellow and Olive (Annubis) Baboons are continuously hybridizing on their border and there has been long standing debate if they are species or subspecies. Paper links below
Species are real, not social constructs. Consider the baboon genus Papio, where genome-scale data show broad variation within species and clear separation among species. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

This is total nonsense Because of the OOA bottleneck, Eurasians lack the diversity of African populations. Thus Africans, they retain "ancestral" haplotypes that were lost in Eurasia, AND they also retain "derived" haplotypes that were lost in Eurasia (who are fixed ancetral)
Figure 3e of this new Nature paper shows something striking: Africans are enriched for the low-copy ACAN haplogroup, which is closer to the great-ape ancestral state, whereas the more expanded derived haplogroup is widespread across human populations. nature.com/articles/s41586-0… Another example showing that Africans can retain a more ape-like ancestral state at a human-divergent locus. “More ancestral”, however, does not automatically mean “closer to the geographic origin of modern humans.” To turn greater ancestral-state retention in Africa into evidence for an African origin, one must additionally explain why Eurasian populations acquired more derived states after dispersal. And that raises a temporal-symmetry problem: why should Eurasia preferentially generate or retain derived human states during the last ~50–70 kyr, but not during the much longer ~2 Ma–50 ka history of Homo in Eurasia?

IIRC West African ancestry is the *the most* diverse. Not 100% certain about San and Dinka, but Mbuti certainly are way less “entropic” (to keep with the theme of the thread) than Yoruba. Combining all of Africa as a single group (bad to do) does raise the entropy even more

African Americans don’t largely descend from Bantu speakers. Vast majority of their African ancestry is non Bantu. Not sure what you mean by “largely homogeneous Bantu”. West Africans already carry a significant amount of HG (bushman like) ancestry from their genesis.

What is a west African Bantu ? There are no west African communities that speak Bantu languages which means they aren’t Bantu. Their west African ancestry is incredibly diverse and so are they, due to different admixtures are also incredibly diverse. xitter.cf/dantabin/status/208288…

Out of East Asia is nonsense. Only an African population, such as the Dinka, can function as a proxy for the non-archaic admixture in Eurasians. This indicates that Eurasians are the result of an African H. sapiens source mixing with Eurasian archaics (Neanderthal & Denisovans).

"Continental ancestry groupings" is not "Race". It TRIES to get at race but it fails. Thus, ancient skeletons from Libya, Israel, Ethiopia, China, Italy, and Brazil can all fit a similar generalized Morphology but obliviously have wildly different genetic ancestry. Once this is demonstrated the DNA=Race model collapses. IMO - There is better language that can be used to talk about the science and how certain genetic variation relates to cranial morphology. What "Race Bloggers" are missing is the more *Scientific analysis* regarding Nose shape, Hair morphology, pigmentation, craniometric traits, etc and what specific evolutionary pressures and environmental adaptation produced those features *and their function* in our species in the first place. There is too much "race" and not enough science, and the "muh IQ" crowd doesn't care and thinks its OK for me to get a Bone Marrow transplant from any "Black Person"......even if i was in FIji.

PGS in one population loses predictive power when applied to other ancestries due to differences in linkage disequilibrium.Knowing that a trait (ex. general cognitive ability)is heritable within a group tells you nothing about what causes average differences between groups.

No.Finding a category enriched for differentiated SNPs does not tell you how large the differences are in allele frequency or the direction the differences favor.European trained PGS generate false signals of group differences due to allele frequencies not translating across pops

Recent prerpint from @Graham_Coop's group looks at how much of an effect a single generation worth of drift and selection have on a population. They in particular look into how these two forces differ under genome wide polygenic selection Read it here: biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

Reich doesn’t believe what you believe. You don’t understand his research or why he words things in the way that he does so you type away. spreading lies. You’re a grifter and shill. you’re using low iq “race realists” to make money.

New technical comment on bioRxiv casts doubt on recent claims about a superarchaic assignment to ~400kya Chinese Homo remains The Denisovan-like AMBN protein isn't divergent enough from the Neanderthal/Sapiens one to be superarchaic in origin and other models are very possible

No Africans don’t have 19% African ghost admixture. It’s low somewhere around 1.2% and it’s in all humans. Europeans for example have about half as much. Africans have the least archaic identified archaic admixture out if all tested populations. (If that means anything anyway)
Everyone alive today also has the ghost archaic west African. Africans infact have the least archaic admixture.

No that’s not what David Reich proposes. First the hypothesis is that a semi-modern human population left Africa and had offspring with local non African archaics. This semi-modern species is responsible for technological advancement. Not the Neanderthals. It creates them.
