Brink 24 in Betondorp, Amsterdam—where Amsterdamse School meets Adolf Loos. The stark geometry and window placement feel Loosian, while the woodwork and door ornamentation bring in expressive Dutch craftsmanship.
Betondorp’s history, often overlooked, tells a story of social housing innovation and minimalist aesthetics that still feel modern today. Built in the 1920s as a concrete experiment, it sits between rationalist modernism and Dutch expressionism.

Peter - you are not understanding that planning already allows / enables all this - & much of it is dismal

You are missing the point. The Guidelines require a standard far in excess of what is very widely accepted.
What some people reasonably see as a solution to the crisis, you want to be illegal.

More rent data out this week. Expect Govt to have the chutzpah to say rents are moderating thanks to [blah].
I wonder if the media will ask them whether they know that rents always fall when the economy is in recession (what with folks not being able to afford a place to live)?

So…Ben Carson wrote the housing plan under Project 2025 (yes, that Dr. Ben Carson).
I won’t pull any punches…if you were saving to buy a house or move to an apt, get that done now.

Congrats! Rent control defeated in CA. Real estate developer and noted dealmaker in the White House. All kinds of deregulation on the horizon.
You did it! 😊

a fun exercise: look at how the people on that YIMBYs for Harris organizing group talked about rent control for the last few months

On tangibility, consider housing. I strongly support investments in additional housing supply. But you can’t tell a room full of renters facing 25% rent hikes that our solution is more supply that will bring down rents a few years from now. What was our message to those renters?

CNN has something they call “the magic wall” …
Kind of funny to me…
In the wonderful world of architecture, all walls are capable of creating a certain sort of magic—and floors, and ceilings, and windows, stairs, ramps, well…you get the idea

Regular reminder to ACT, Greens (whoever). Rent affordability barely changes, ever. Why? Because tenants pay as much as they can afford. If incomes go up, rents go up. If incomes stagnate, so do rents.

82% of Americans support rent caps. 4 in 5 Americans, across age, geography, political party. It's hard to imagine a more unifying issue.
The rent is too damn high, everyone knows it, and everyone is aligned about the urgent solution: rent caps.
