Oh my God, this is so emotional 😥💔
An inmate was allowed to see her daughter after 1 year of incarceration. The warden couldn't hold their emotions and allowed her carry her baby and feel her warmly😥

The next morning, Daniel emailed me asking whether I’d consider returning as a consultant.
His proposed rate was $150 an hour.
I read the email twice.
The same man who’d told me I was easily replaceable was now offering me more money per hour than I used to earn in half a day.
I didn’t accept immediately.
Instead, I requested a written scope of work, a defined project duration, and payment terms.
He agreed to all three.
I accepted a short consultancy contract, with one condition: I would report to the executive sponsor, not Daniel, and I would have no responsibility for decisions made by the internal team.
I returned for the client recovery meeting two weeks later.
Daniel looked uncomfortable when I walked in.
Mark barely spoke.
I listened to the client explain what had gone wrong, reviewed the project records, and identified the three issues that needed immediate attention.
Within an hour, we had an agreed recovery plan.
The client approved the revised schedule.
The contract continued.
At the end of the meeting, the CEO pulled me aside.
“Daniel tells me you were one of our strongest employees. I wish we’d recognized that before you left.”
I smiled politely.
“Recognition is nice. Fair treatment would have been better.”
He nodded.
I completed the consultancy assignment, submitted my final invoice for $18,000, and moved on.
A few months later, a former colleague told me Daniel had been moved to another department. Mark was still there, but the client relationship was now being managed by a more experienced team.
I felt no satisfaction in their struggles.
I was too busy building a career where I didn’t have to beg to be valued.
The lesson wasn’t that companies always regret losing good employees.
Some don’t.
Some replace you, move on, and never look back.
The real lesson was this:
Never confuse being indispensable to a broken system with being appreciated by the people running it.
And never let someone convince you that asking to be paid fairly means you’re ungrateful.
