We have just held our first school @pokemon tournament, facilitated by @MightyLGames (thank you so much) to create an exciting battle between a dozen pupils. Everybody was a winner and all are eager to battle again. @PokemonTCG @PokemonTCGUK #pokemon

@30DaysWild Day 17 - Think about what would happen if it didn’t rain any more. We are taking part in the RHS Grow With It task of growing plants and monitoring their water use. It has raised a lot of talk and questions about how we use water. @YorksWildlife @RHSSchools

@30DaysWild Day 16 - Find a leaf that has been nibbled by something. There were lots of nibbled leaves - signs that the insects had been visiting, or possibly something bigger…… @YorksWildlife @WildlifeTrusts @RHSSchools @TheTreeCouncil #TeamWilder #ForceForNature

@30DaysWild Day 15 - Breathe in and out - can you taste the air? Yes they could - it tasted ‘sweet’; ‘earthy’; ‘like a cloud’ or ‘I don’t know how to describe it, but it has a taste’. @YorksWildlife @WildlifeTrusts @RHSSchools @TheTreeCouncil #TeamWilder #ForceForNature

@30DaysWild Day 18 - Listen for a buzzing sound. What is it? Of course, we found many bees in our garden, field and meadow areas, including where they lived in holes in the ground. Our school loves bees. @YorksWildlife @WildlifeTrusts @RHSSchools @TheTreeCouncil @BumblebeeTrust

We enjoyed showing the Bridlington in Bloom Committee around our school and nature areas, as part of Bridlington’s Yorkshire in Bloom entry. We hope to meet the judges in July. @YorkshireBloom @bridtowncouncil @RHSSchools @The_RHS @YorksWildlife @TheTreeCouncil #TeamWilder

Great to meet Cllr Angela Walker today (left) and show our school nature sites, discussing the possibilities of how @East_Riding and Burlington Juniors can work together to sow, grow, plant and promote trees in our local community. @TheTreeCouncil @YorksWildlife @bridtowncouncil

That time a horse sneaked into a cycling race In 1997, a horse jumped over a fence and joined the peloton of the of the Critérium International, eventually passing it, leaving the race only 20 km from the finish line. xitter.cf/1GR8FULGUY/status/1706…

Twitter you know how I always rescue caterpillars from the park nettles before the council can kill them? WELL. I have been busy. Behold 265 peacock butterfly chrysalises 🤪
There’s a LOT to be completely miserable about at the moment. But… in 10 years of checking nettles for caterpillars, I’ve never found this many. Small tortoiseshell butterfly caterpillars to be precise, a species that has declined by 75% since the 1970s… 🧵

Our 2nd day of #BridlingtonOldTownAssociation Secret Gardens event was as popular as the first (including with the wildlife) - all still amazed at our ‘secret’ grounds (to most adults). @BridFreePress @bridlingtonecho @TheTreeCouncil @RHSSchools @YorksWildlife Time for jobs too!

It’s great to hear how plants are getting on in pupils’ gardens. Two pupils have shown how their sunflower is growing (from our whole school seed planting) and also the plants from our plant sale. They’re looking good! @RHSSchools @YorksWildlife @TheTreeCouncil #TeamWilder

Trees: we eat their fruit, they provide us with shade and they are nature's power plants, from the gas carbon dioxide that we exhale, they make the oxygen that we breathe. But above all, trees are beautiful and worth protecting - and the older they get, the more valuable they are

Many of our Forests for the Future tree seeds have survived the winter freeze and hungry wildlife, and are now germinating. An exciting start of a long journey. Read more on: burlingtonnfnews.edublogs.or… @TheTreeCouncil @RHSSchools @YorksWildlife #TeamWilder #ForceForNature #trees
