$350 Million Gone Overnight: What the Bitget Incident Reveals About the Real Bottom Line of Crypto Fund Security in 2026 In the early hours of September 25, 2026 (UTC), unauthorized transfers were detected from multiple Bitget hot wallets, resulting in an estimated loss of $351.6 million. The Width DART security team immediately launched cross-chain tracking. To date, we have reconstructed the full fund path across 20 unauthorized transfers, 9 asset types, and approximately $350.8 million across 6 EVM chains and the XRP Ledger — a variance of only about 0.2% against Bitget’s official figure. But the latest development is this: the funds are no longer dormant. As of 01:10 UTC, September 27, approximately 79% of the stolen XRP has already been swapped into BTC via THORChain and dispersed across roughly 90 BTC addresses. The industry’s interception window is closing fast. This article is not just about Bitget. It is about a more critical question: when stolen funds keep moving on-chain, can you actually identify the source of your next deposit?

How DART Solves This DART’s core capability is tracing the fund path and identifying risk addresses in real time, making every deposit traceable, assessable, and interceptable. 1. Full-Chain Coverage, Cross-Chain Tracing DART supports major chains including Ethereum, Tron, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, and Robinhood Chain, enabling cross-chain fund path tracing, identification of cross-chain address reuse, and full reconstruction of the attacker’s fund path. 2. Real-Time Risk Labels, Alerts on Deposit DART has written 55 EVM-chain hacker address labels (Ethereum 29, BNB Chain 18, Arbitrum 6, OP 2; 45 unique addresses with cross-chain reuse), tagged as Cybercrime / Hacker / Thief. Clients integrated with DART KYT / risk scoring receive real-time high-risk alerts when funds touch these addresses. 3. Historical Linkage, Identifying “Old Wallets” DART goes beyond single transactions: it cross-references new incident addresses against historical wallet clusters. The Bitget–AFX link was first publicly disclosed by @SpecterAnalyst; DART completed hop-by-hop verification through this cross-referencing and added new evidence that 0xa077 is controlled by the Bitget attacker. 4. Dormant Fund Monitoring, 7×24 Anomaly Tracking DART has enabled 7×24 anomaly monitoring on 32 hacker addresses (including 8 dormant wallets holding approximately 68,923 ETH). Any outflow automatically triggers next-hop tracking and label updates. 60% of Funds Remain On-Chain, But the Interception Window Is Rapidly Closing The Bitget incident once again shows that exchange hot wallets are a primary target for nation-state hacker groups, while the maturity of cross-chain infrastructure is accelerating fund movement. But in pursuing speed, the attacker also reused addresses across multiple chains and routed cross-chain funds into an old wallet linked to the AFX incident — leaving clear linkage evidence. Currently, approximately 60% of stolen funds remain dormant on-chain, but laundering is accelerating: nearly 80% of XRP has been swapped out, and some funds have entered the Umbra privacy protocol and Chainflip. Approximately 68,900 ETH on Ethereum has not yet moved, leaving the industry an interception window — but it is shrinking fast. The question is: Are you ready? DART — making every deposit traceable, assessable, and interceptable. WIDTH Pulse | This Week in Compliance & Financial Crime This week’s developments point to a common problem: controls can work exactly as designed — and still fail to address the underlying risk. From forged trade documents moving billions through global banks, to a licensed broker facing enforcement action, a client email exposing sensitive deal information, and unauthorised crypto transfers reaching an authorised signing workflow, the lesson is clear: a control is only as strong as the risk it is designed to detect. Meanwhile, the regulatory landscape continues to evolve. 🇸🇬 MAS is consulting on cross-border issuance of Singapore stablecoins, while 🇰🇷 Korean financial players are already exploring the infrastructure around won-denominated stablecoins ahead of legislation. For compliance teams, the challenge is increasingly about looking beyond whether a document, licence, email or transaction appears valid — and understanding the context, relationships and signals behind it. Read this week’s WIDTH Pulse for the full breakdown. #WIDTH #WIDTHPulse #Compliance #FinancialCrime #AML #RegTech #RiskManagement #Stablecoins #Crypto #TransactionMonitoring #FinancialServices #Singapore #SouthKorea

4. Dubai's court moved to enforce AED 27.2 million against a VARA-licensed broker. The license was real. It was never a statement about the counterparty behind it. 5. A Morgan Stanley banker attached the deal pipeline to a routine client e-mail. No system was breached, the control that failed has no technical fix. 6. Bitget reported USD 351.6 million in unauthorized hot-wallet transfers. Attackers reached a backend system, forged the transfer data, and the authorised signing workflow did what it was built to do.
