@WickedFreckledT

I love to read and am not shy about telling people about books I'm reading. Recent good book: Doors to the Stars by R.A. Williamson.

I have a free evening. *eyes 200 handwritten pages waiting to be transcribed into the electronic version of a novel with notes* Say, I've been reading Great Expectations. Maybe tonight is the night I finish.

Newer than the Mac laptop or the Mac desktop I use at home. Whippersnappers are ungrateful.
My 90 year old dad was super excited to gift me his 12 year old, Windows 7 laptop. "I remember you liked this and I don't use it anymore. I want you to have it." "Thanks Dad! 😇" 🤔 I guess I can make it into a backup Linux laptop.

Formulaic first drafts work like that. Good writing follows a different process.
DID YOU KNOW that Louis L'Amour published 89 novels and 14 short story collections? He never used outlines; he banged his stories out on a typewriter, one after the other.

When you get to Mars and you really really need a plastic bracket for your lithium hydroxide canistees... or a 2,000 point Space Marine army for Warhammer 40K.
A Moon base can't run to the hardware store. NASA Glenn is mixing a plastic bacteria can make from waste or carbon dioxide with Moon and Mars soil simulant. In experimental tests, the dust helps it set faster, and the team molded and 3D printed parts. ntrs.nasa.gov/citations/2026…

Dear self, you gotta read faster so you get to Tainted Throne.
I got quite a few upset DMs about a particular part in Tainted Throne 🤣🤭

Fine, self. You have four hours right now. Go to the laptop with zero internet access and spend that time writing. #amwriting

What is a reading slump? I keep reading that term and cannot relate. When I physically can't read, I curse loudly and try every workaround I can manage (huge text on a screen with a magnifying glass has been an option).
What do you tend to do to try and get out of a reading slump?

I have tried new authors after interacting with them on social media if their posts are interesting instead of bland. The most effective ad remains:

Finished Witchy Eye by @DavidJohnButler. Good story in a setting of an alternate US in the 19th century with magic. I loved Bad Bill and Long Cathy as Deep Southerners who believe. Teens Cal and Sarah are fine, but I have a soft spot for mature folks. kickstarter.com/projects/hap…

Dear self, You have a review to write and post. Then, you can have the treat of writing on your own novel. Take inspiration from Author Williamson (bouillon, though, not coffee) and get writing! youtu.be/KX5TK11OLj0?si=LfES…

Bad writing is bad writing. Boring, formulaic writing is boring, formulaic writing. One does not need a special program to identify things that should not be published and for which no one should be charging money.

I cried while reading #yascifi #DoorsToTheStars. Wulan loses everything and keeps going one step ahead of the Ascendency, bounty hunters, radiation poisoning, and an artifact that sings to her. Action! Adventure! Betrayal! So good! ryanwilliamson.com/new-relea…
I have always found it difficult to choose favorites. There are so many books I would place side by side as pinnacles of world literature. Today, I'd choose Dark Neology as my favorite, for it is the only work I followed as the author's tears fell onto the pages.
