The day has come. AI can finally thwart the most toxic and socially devastating career dreams ever sold to young women: influencer, TikTok star, OnlyFans.
The French girl in this clip does not exist. Her song is an earworm with a superb narrative in lyrics and film, better than most human pop slop, which is far more generic. Anyone with a browser and a subscription can now produce her, and that is good news above all for real young women. The attention market paid them to sell their youth, their privacy and in the end their bodies to strangers, and since it paid narcissism best, it bred narcissism in a whole generation.
Unfortunately, we are now entering an awkward interim phase. The market-financed toxic careers for female narcissists are disappearing, but the state is not bankrupt yet. So the talent moves to where the taxpayer still pays: NGO director, salaried antifa activist, trauma counsellor for France's looters. There is too little market demand for any of these, so they will only go away with the state's bankruptcy.
France is working on it.
"Europe has relatively generous welfare systems...these systems were designed for 2.5 children per family and an average life expectancy of 62, not 1.25 and 79."
The irony is: part of the reason *why* people have 1.25 children these days is because - thanks to the generous welfare systems - you don't *need* more children.
Tragedy of the commons, as clean as it gets.

Weniger Zucker in Getränken rettet Lebensjahre. Das ist Gesundheitspolitik, kein Finanztrick.

Black Forest Labs founder @robrombach:
the startup is registered in the US. Why?
A pure German GmbH wasn’t an option:
Registering the GmbH took longer than training their first model, Flux 1. That’s just too slow. They need top investors – and for that, a US company is the gold standard.

POV building a startup in Europe: Government knocks on your door on a Wednesday morning and interviews every single employee to make sure they dont work more than 40 hours per week (not kidding). No wonder Europe is hollowed out and we've become clowns compared to the US & China.

BREAKING: OpenAI might have stolen another major proof.
In a detailed Mastodon post, which I report in full in the comments, Andreas Thom presents several pieces of evidence suggesting that OpenAI may have trained Astra on conversations in which he and Gábor Kun were working on Gromov’s soficity conjecture, one of the ten problems OpenAI later announced Astra had solved.
I know Andreas. We met several times early in our careers. He is an exceptional mathematician, a leading expert on sofic and hyperlinear groups, and one of the most respected scholars in the field. He has spent two decades working on this problem.
If his account is correct, this is not a minor dispute over attribution. It would mean that unpublished human work was absorbed into a model and then presented to the world as a breakthrough by the model itself.
And if the allegations raised by Levent Alpöge, Tristan Buckmaster, and now Andreas Thom are all substantiated, we are no longer looking at isolated incidents.
We may be looking at one of the greatest intellectual scandals in the history of science.
AI is not discovering new mathematics.
AI is stealing human discovery.

CL
