Menopause is a natural stage of life, yet so many of us walk into it without knowing what to expect. In Sweden, a national survey found that one in three women didn’t know enough about menopause as they entered it.
The best time to learn the signs is before they show up. Look for reliable information, and talk openly with your health provider, your friends and the women in your family. Chances are, they’ve been wondering too.
Miracle teas, magic gummies and “just grin and bear it”. Menopause advice is everywhere, and not all of it deserves your trust.
WHO calls for menopause information and care that is grounded in evidence and shaped around women’s own needs, values and preferences. Before you try the latest quick fix, ask questions and check in with a trusted health provider or a credible health organisation.

It was my honour to address the @WHOWPRO Regional Committee one last time. But 10 months is still a long way to go and we can still do a lot together. So my asks for the health leaders of the region are:
1. Approve the next increase in assessed contributions at next year's World Health Assembly.
2. Consolidate the hard work we have done through the transformation, prioritization and realignment, to build a @WHO that is better positioned to serve Member States with neutrality, impartiality and integrity.
3. Engage actively in the reform of the global health architecture. Make sure it reflects the needs of this Region and puts countries at the centre.
4. Finalize negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing annex, so that the Pandemic Agreement can enter the ratification process and come into force.

Young children explore the world with their hands, their mouths and their bare feet. Lead-contaminated dust and soil can travel from floors and surfaces to little hands and into growing bodies.
Protecting children starts by preventing exposure at the source.

Saying no to the things you love because there’s simply nothing left in the tank? You don’t have to just push through.
Many women with bothersome menopause symptoms benefit from information, counselling, treatment or clinical support. If symptoms are getting in the way of your work, your relationships, your sleep, your mood or your peace of mind, speak to a health provider.
Feeling more like yourself again is possible.
Hot one minute, freezing the next. Wide awake at 2am, running on empty by 3pm. Brain fog.
Sound familiar?
Menopause can touch every part of your well-being: physical, emotional, mental and social. Symptoms are different for every woman and can include hot flushes, broken sleep, mood changes, vaginal dryness, foggy thinking and low energy.
Start keeping a note of what you’re feeling and how it shows up in your day. It makes that conversation with your health provider so much easier.
It's International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week
Lead exposure was linked to more than 3.5 million deaths globally in 2023, largely from heart disease.
The scale of this burden is staggering but it is preventable.
We need to move beyond detecting lead exposure after it happens and focus on preventing it at the source bit.ly/3TKEwwd

Young people are helping shape the future of global health. I was so pleased to see the new members of the @WHOYouthCouncil at the #WHS2026: bit.ly/4s1AP1G
I look forward to your ideas, your leadership and, importantly, to being challenged by you.
Together, for a healthier, safer, fairer world.

.@MOH_Kenya has confirmed a third case of #Ebola among the contacts of the first patient. The new patient was already in the quarantine and is now receiving supportive clinical care.
This early detection demonstrates the importance of contact tracing and surveillance measures. @WHO continues to support.

A third case of Ebola (Bundibugyo virus disease) has been confirmed in Kenya. The patient was already in quarantine and is receiving care. There is no evidence of community transmission. #EbolaAlertKE
According to a recent survey by @RockefellerFdn and @focaldataHQ, the WHO recorded the highest level of trust among the international institutions assessed.
The results point towards sustained support for multilateral cooperation and spotlight that addressing global health risks requires collaboration across countries and sectors.

Very encouraging to see that @WHO scored the highest level of trust among all tracked international institutions in this survey by @RockefellerFdn and @focaldataHQ.
These findings underscore that people continue to value collective action and recognize that health security depends on countries working together to prevent, prepare for and respond to shared threats.

Kenya has confirmed a second case of Bundibugyo #Ebola, a close family member of the first case who was already in quarantine.
Both cases are linked, with no evidence of spread in the wider community.

My asks to the @WHOEMRO Health leaders and delegates as they gather for #EMRC73:
1. Approve the next increase in @WHO assessed contributions at next year’s World Health Assembly.
2. Build a WHO that is better positioned to serve Member States, with neutrality and impartiality, and focusing on integrity.
3. Engage actively in the process of reform of the global health architecture.
4. Finalise negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing annex, so the Pandemic Agreement can finally enter into the ratification process, and into force.
5. Choose peace. That is the choice that many countries in this region – and beyond – must make. There can be no health without peace.

.@MOH_Kenya identified a second case of #Ebola caused by Bundibugyo virus, a close contact of the first patient, who has already been in quarantine. This shows that surveillance and contact tracing efforts are working. He has been receiving supportive clinical care since the onset of the symptoms.
Since the outbreak began in the #DRC in May 2026, @WHO has worked closely with Kenya and other countries across the region to prepare for potential imported cases of Ebola, including on disease surveillance, contact tracing and clinical management.

When an outbreak happens, every case found and every chain of transmission interrupted can save lives.
New guidance from WHO and @AfricaCDC brings together practical recommendations to help countries detect filovirus outbreaks early, find cases, interrupt transmission and use data to guide the response.
Filoviruses are Marburg virus and the Ebola viruses: Ebola (formerly Zaire), Sudan, Bundibugyo and Taï Forest.
The ultimate goal? ❤️ Protect communities at risk and save lives bit.ly/4yOhwM1
