You’ve got to admire the fact that a girl who was sexually abused by her step dad then abandoned by her mother at 12 still managed to elevate herself up to a level that she can run for governor of her state. This won’t be possible in many other countries.
Asked Ohio Dem gov nominee Amy Acton today about this answer from President Trump.
"The facts are: I was removed from custody from my mom. She was not well. From even a very young age, my brother and I experienced a lot of abuse and neglect, even before my stepfather. But my stepfather was not a good person, and it got worse then. He was indicted in a grand jury. He was a fugitive, and they left together."
"I have not seen her since I was 12 years old in a courthouse. So this is a sad story."

Excellent conversation at today’s @TAGHouston luncheon with TxDot Commissioner Steve Alvis. As our region continues to grow, so must our transportation infrastructure, and having all levels of government collaborating and coordinating is vital to the success of that mission.

Congrats to my Houston folks...you finally made it to Fall Day!
We declare it to officially be Fall Day in Houston! Our morning low of 65° took us there, and although it won't last, we have a nice stretch of weather thru the weekend. More warm/humid weather to come before (maybe?) a stronger front. Matt has details: spacecityweather.com/space-c…

Houston is gaining two more major energy headquarters as @DevonEnergy and Expand Energy relocate from Oklahoma City.
The moves reflect a broader trend of oil and gas consolidation in Houston, where major producers are increasingly concentrating leadership, customers and corporate functions.

Local governments are struggling across the state. I’d love to hear conversations about creative solutions, reimagining the tax system, levels of government working together..
I love that these women are getting the recognition they deserve 🩷🎨.
Barbara Jordan, Ninfa Laurenzo, Charlotte Baldwin Allen, Terry Hershey, Dominique de Menil & Ima Hogg changed Houston for the better.
They were larger than life. Now they have a mural to match. Great to join the Women’s Home, @MarthacastexT, @Whit0221, @JoeforHouston and Doug Parker for the unveiling.

Thank you dad, @whitmire_john, for coming up with a solution and funding it with your own personal money. You have supported equality your entire career, and your daughters are so proud of you @sarwhitmire. Love is love 💛🧡❤️🩷🩵💜

I was sad to learn of the passing of my friend and longtime colleague, Garnet Coleman. My thoughts and prayers are with the Coleman family. I ask Houstonians to join me in recognizing Garnet’s life of public service and celebrating his life.
May he rest in peace.
